this is going to be a hilarious post
i /hate/ the pay-to-play jig myself, ever since everquest came out like 7 years ago? anyways, i laffed in everquests face and hated the game with a passion, and that .hack made the everquest anime series and it was utter CRAP.

further down the line, other paytoplay games started to sprout, with the more recent matrix online (what a joke) and WoW. i told everyone who asked about it that it was the stupidest thing, having to buy the game for $80 and then pay $25/month to play it...wtf is that?
    afaic, thats rape, and theft.

i dunno what happened yesterday, but i was walking through a loca lgame store looking at the new stuff and i saw world of warcraft on sale for $70, i laughed like a pirate picked the game up and bought it, knowing that i was making a big mistake.

i know, its horrible, but i confess, i bought world of warcraft and played a solid 4 hours of it last night untill it was /way/ past my bedtime, managed to get my character to lvl7 as of now. and i cant wait to get home and play more.

takes a bit of getting used to, lots of features, and this is my first rts/rpg/mmo game that i've played, and im liking it so far..fair gameplay, easy to follow, and very friendly environment...because im a total newb at this crap i was talking to a lot of people, even the lvl125+ guys were nice and took the time to explain to me, and in some cases even escort me to where i had to go, i know in some cases thats the point, but not a 125 to 7.
    lol

i must say, im quite the hipocrit on this one, but i gave in and took the plunge. its one of those things i think you just have to bite your lip and try. if your interested in buying the game, i recommend it, and for thsoe who havnt played it and diss it like i did, i know where your coming from, and i gave in, and although i think $25/month is still /extremely/ steep, i like the game a lot.

Yep this game is fun I'm level20 and the PvP is quite interesting I thought it would all be point and click and whoever had better armor or weapons would win but it isn't.

It has got strategy elements in it, I haven't tried raids yet but they're fun, used to do them in NC and stuff.

But I'm just wondering are raids equivalent to like "castle battles" and stuff liek in other mmorpgs, for example in ... Lineage2?

Also post what server you guys play on level, name and also guild if you like. I'll start off:

Thunderbolt Server Lvl 20 Orc Warrior Mphiz <DEAD Sexy>
Bronzebeard Server Lvl 10 Undead Warlock outblaze

Correct. My mate paid £50 for it on eBay with the understanding that the seller was willing to send him the key immediately so he could set up his account and play using my installation discs. Never got they key for ages :hehe:

If I had to list, i'd say...

    (at the moment..)

    1# Wow
    2# DaoC
    3# EQ2
    4# AO
    5# EVE
    6# Lineage 2
    7# MO

There are hundereds of MMORPGs. All the above, Asheron's Call (recently re-released), UO, AC2, Neocron, ROSE, RYL, FoM, Ryzom, Freeworld, RoE, Fung Wan... the list is endless.

    Or similar.

but there are a very few that are worth the price

i have to say neocron was cheap and fun but guess what the DEV's like to sit and look at the wall 24/7, the last proper patch seemed to be lastyear and NC2 made the game worse lol

    Lineage2 farmers ..... lvlers ......... booooooring

    MO looks crap T_T

I wish games, in particular MMORPG's didn't take so long to produce :waah:

haha thinking about that I named my warlock soupaman in WoW

Doesn't that game get boring since there aren't any character levels? instead new abilities and the fact there is no PvP at all...

I mean wont the game just turn into a massive chatroom?

PvP is currently in testing, about to be released in the next month or so.. then City of Villians is due at the end of the year.

It doesn't get any more boring than any other MMPORPG once you reach the highest level. In fact, CoH has had more updates and releases, for free, in the last year than any other game. Since I've been playing we've been given the option of changing our powers through a mission, hundreds more clothing and effect options, several new zones and quests and two new archetypes.

Plus it's solo friendly (in the scheme of things) which means you can be more of a casual gamer and not have to sit through the 8 hour Everquestathons.

No skills, no phat l3wt, little KS'ing and griefing, GMs who help.. bliss :)
