Alright, i got me "X300" case a few days ago, after buying it from xoxide's 'X-Hour'. Got it for 40$, not bad if you ask me. Well, Sure i had a perfectly working case before, but this presented a wonderful opportunity to mod. And, i have never seen a real modded x300 before. So, my adventure begins. My work so far has been stealthing the CD-ROM and CDRW. This isn't 100% finished, as I have yet an excellent method of holding the faceplate to the drive. I'm still working on that. Also, I've cut all the fanholes out, allowing for more airflow, and have switched some fans around. I took the standard clear 80mm fan and put it up top, and put a quad led 80mm fanon the side, in the middle of the disgusting window. I'm still working on designs for changing this premodded crap to make it look better. I've also got some unique bezel mods, stealthing the floppy, and a paintjob comin up in the future. But here are some pix of what i've done thus far. any ideas, comments, etc are much appriciated, thanks.
Looking good, be a little better if you resized the pics, had to scroll all over to see em' Good work! DDK
hehe yea... they is kinda big o_0 but thanks, i'll have a full article on DeviantMods when i'm done with it. Man now i gotta find a color of paint..hrmmmm
nice work on the fan grills, that musta taken some patience! are the edges as sharp as they look? looks like you could sever a finger just trying to pick up the case from the back
actually they're pretty smooth, i ran my finger over all of them when i did it.they could be smoother though, i wore my grinding disk down too much, i so i gotta get a new one
hehe awesome, i was wondering when someone would notice that!! that movie is one of the best ever!!!! hahaha "I see your schwartz is as big as mine!" and i r tidying up the cables last, cause i'm gunna be removing internals lots, and that takes a while...ZzzzZZzZzz
once again, sorry for the big pic, i'm toolazy to thumbnail em just yet here's what i did today: made the crappy ass front ventilation a lil more open . Next step is to cut the metal sheet and plexi that go over the plastic bezel.
That's a sweet idea for a case front bezel. Is that the actual design that will be your front bezel styling?!
Yea. The way the front bezel works is there is the plastic main body, then a thin peice of brushed aluminum (which gives it the aluminum look) goes over that, which is then covered by a peice of plexi. The metal will be easy to cut, however, for a really nice result, i think i'm going to take the plexi to a local plastics shop, and have them cut it. glad ya like it
I have this exact case, but in black. I had similar thoughts about the front bezel, though a different shape in mind. Good to see that it can be done before I take the dremel to it. Nice job. Looking forward to more pics.
alright, i got bored today so i decided on a design and went with it for the sidepanel. After some jigsaw cutting and some dremel grinding, here is what i've ended up with: the sidepanel taped up, and cut lines marked After Jigsaw cuts- edges need to be grinded down to become smooth after 10 minutes of grinding. More sanding is needed to become perfect Aight, so there's my redesigned case side panel. I'm gunna clean up the edges a lil more, maybe use some molding, and definitely some groovy paint
I use the microsoft picture resizer power toy to resize multiple pictures at once with ease: http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/ImageResizerPowertoySetup.exe nice job though! I haven;t really seen one of those modded before
whoa thanks for the link! thats uber helpful yea thats one reason why i got the case, cause i'd never seen a modded one i love modding premods, makes me feel all warm and fuzy
