I knew this was going to happen. Every year; Steam's login and store systems fall over. C'mon Valve. You've only got a few THOUSAND servers around the planet, it shouldn't have this much impact!

I have to say; I'm trying to buy a few things, because those bargains are really good; it's failed to load the basket eight times so far, failed to add items about a dozen, and it's still logging in from a few minutes ago on Chrome.

Smooth, Valve, smooth.

Aaaaand the entire site just got Error 503'd.

 

The sale will still be there in a couple hours when things have calmed down. I've managed to get at my gifts now, though.

Ho snap. There's the other reason; Buying out of that pile gets you a random gift, basically any game or a % off voucher.

No wonder their servers are shitting brix at the moment.

I think their load balancing system finally got into gear and did what it was supposed to.

 

I've got 2 coupons:

25% off a Valve title, useless since I've got all Valve games. Plus they are more than 25% off just now.

50% off Homefront which I can't use until the current 50% deal ends in a fortnight, crazy!

Yeah, the coupons I have are useless as well, I don't like any valve games.

 

I got one Valve 25% off coupon after initially getting nothing from the Gift Pile. Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't you supposed to get two gifts for that first achievement?

BTW, that Valve coupon isn't valid until after the Christmas Sale has ended (2 Jan through 1 Mar).

EDIT: Turns out I apparently got a gift voucher for L4D as well. That new gift pass layout is confusing...

 

my inventory is still not showing up, at first I thought I might just not have got anything, but I can't access my TF2 or portal 2 inventories either, so must be an overall problem, want to see what I got dammit

 

Tempted by Fable 3, anyone think it's worth £7.50?

EDIT: Steam's only working intermittently, I have to refresh the page every so often when it just doesn't load.

 

Loved the first Fable and promptly bought it today, when it showed up on STEAM before the sale went live officially. I'm going to wait for Fable 3 to drop further in price, though. Somehow I'm not sure if I'm going to like it as much as the first one. And I cannot really forgive MS for shafting us PC users on Fable 2.

I *am* contemplating Portal 2 at 7.49 EUR, though.

I'd highly recommend it (also, if you don't have the first one it can be got in a bundle with 2 for about £1 extra)

 

I've just spent a large amount of the evening playing Portal 2 Co-op, this is a very ncie surprise to come home to having never played the sp. Thinking about Homefront as well, played my free half hours worth on Onlive, it seemed pretty fun. On second thoughts I might wait for it to pop up in a one-day.... Feels good to finally buy Portal 2 though! Much as I like having a box you can't argue with 75%

 

I recommend get both, Portal is still a good little game I can blast through it in one sitting.
