An article drew my attention to this feature on YouTube being trialled at the moment. I've never used/seen it before so forgive me if you have!

At the controls bar of videos there is a CC button, turn it on and things start to become interesting with closed captioning. I watched the official iPad intro video and was both in awe at how the software behind the feature can get it spot on and LoL'd when it failed miserably, example:

He says "iPad is a world class email client"

CC says "I tried to use the world-class female"

Haha, it's a good idea but I don't think it gets a single sentence right throughout that video. :p

It did get a nice-sized chunk correct a bit later on and I was fairly surprised because like you said most of it is balls! :)

If you ever want a giggle, turn on subtitles during the news. I'd say they're only marginally better than the automated subtitles from YouTube :D

    Hahahah that's awesome.

"You just reach out and tap it" = "history shows"

"You're doing it all with your hands" = "You're too tall to him"

It's like it's reading between the lines. It's telling us what they actually mean. He did try to use a world-class female, but she turned him down for being a tool. They do want to take over. It makes perfect sense?

Actually the captions on the news aren't terrible; the standard of subtitiling in general is pretty low although it's a pain to watch the news ones cos they have to be added real time = delay.

I remember watching the last olympics and the generated subs they used were really good.
