Will Eyefinity have any benefits whit a single monitor? Or is Eyefinity just for Multi monitor set ups? Will you get more FPS when using Eyefinity with one monitor opposed to dual monitor or a triple head?
From how I understand it Eyefinity is just a way of splitting up what would normally be displayed on a normal resolution screen into enough parts to send to multiple monitors. There isn't really any performance increase, it's not that kind of tech, it's just a clever chip which can chop the resulting output into enough pieces to be fed to extensive multi-mon setups.
I thought that normally with gaming, you couldn't have the game on more than one monitor? Unless it was windowed and thus stretched. Whereas with this, Windows sees the Eyefinity as one monitor despite it being 3/6/whatever and thus you can get huge res gaming across the whole thing. Or at least, that's how I saw it?
WOW-The end of that video with the waterfalls and everything made me *cencored* +rep for blowing my tiny little mind.
Just to add HD5770 comes in October, priced at under $200. Performance should be a bit lower than HD4890, probably a bit lower than the HD4870, but overall it should be a quite powerful card. For people who don't already know. Source - http://www.fudzilla.com/content/view/15471/1/
Damn need is a horrible thing!!! I have to get 2 5870's to replace my 4870's because they don't look as nice! Time to rob a bank!!!!!
oh yeh and then i can fit a sound card why didnt i think about it before whats the price going to be for one of those?? (in £'s please )
So what to expect in UK pricing? the 5870 1gb at GTX 285 pricing and the 5850 at GTX 275 pricing? I'll have to see on the preformance to see if to get prehaps a 5870 or price drop GTX 275 SLI Think I'll have about £300 for a GPU budget for my new system.
that seems very hard to believe really Maybe if that was: GTX 295 and ATI 4890 Xfire average FPS vs 5870 overclocked highest frame achieved in the bench mark Would be sweet though,
I think the reason they advertised wow with eyefinity is there are plenty of people who play wow who have a use for 6 separate monitors for running 6 characters. Plus its a somewhat pretty game and it runs great on todays hardware..
Those types of people who want to use 6 monitors to run 6 character need a life!!!! They need to get out more
Well I run 5 characters in wow as thats a full group and I can log in, run an instance and log off faster than I could if I was to find a pug and run an instance. That gives me more time to do other things as I spend less time sitting around waiting for groups. Besides that its pretty fun. Completing Utgard Keep with 5x boomkins is a pretty cool feeling. As far as I can tell the hardware is pretty much 2x4890. Over at B3d there is a graph showing the linear scaling between shader count and FPS, when I find it I will edit this post with a link. This makes me believe that in most cases the 5870 will be on par or ahead of a GTX 295.
not that i do this but i do see the appeal it takes a real amount of skill to perform this and the rewards are pretty good who are you / we to determine what someone does with their time
