PBR (Pabst Blue Ribbon). Rednecks, white socks and blue ribbon beer! It has a blue ribbon on it. That means it comes in first place. ;)

Not much of a beer drinker tbh, lagers all taste too similar to me. Cobra with curry is darned tasty though.

More of a cider person, and I tend to avoid the cheap, nasty stuff (Blackthorn, Strongbow, etc.) and the cloudy, natural stuff that tastes like revolting apple wine. Magners, Thatchers or Bulmers will do me nicely.

I dislike most cider, Bulmers or its bollocks, to me at least.

so real ale is not beer?

a lot of the beer's mentioned here are not what one would call "lager" in the uk...just sayin' that real ale is not the only thing with taste - you just need to find some good/real beer ;)

A lot of what's been posted is not lager. The OP sounds like he's looking for a lager. That's why I asked.

I've tried plenty of lagers it's nigh impossible to find a good one in the uk.

As far lager type beers go then it's easily Cusquenya (Kus-Ken-Ya) for me. It's so crisp and refreshing, the first time i tried it i ended up in a huuuuuge mess because it's so nice i just could not stop myself drinking more.

Down the real ale path then there are several to choose from but personal faves are (in no particular order)
    Titanic - Iceberg,Wreckage,White Star
Wychwood - Any! They're all awesome!
Stone Brewing Company - Again, all nice.

But i will say that in comparison to draught there are no real ale's which truly stand out in bottles against brewers like Archers, Joules, Hogsback, Coach House and Dent.

EDIT: For any big real ale fans The Swan Inn in Stone,Staffordshire has one of the best beer festivals around. 2nd week of July every year. If you're within reasonable distance i highly recommend it (hehe i always use a weeks holiday for it lol)

(Assuming you mean really mainstream larger that comes in big cheap boxes in supermarkets)

Carlsberg Export is good, but I'd probably go for Stella Artois. I know it has a bad rep, but I don't care, I just really like the taste of the stuff.

It was bit of a double question, basically wanted to know any good bottled beer, lager, ale, easily available and if could be bought in a multipack to make it easier to buy i guess.
Most lager that you can buy by crateload at like £20 really do nothing for me, not really tasty, and if i wanted to get a good buzz goin I would drink spirits/liquer, so really it was anything that is tasty and would be nice to drink 1 or 2 bottles while relaxing and watching tv or something.

I guess mainstream was sort of the wrong word to use lol.

Anyway thanks for the replies, do keep them coming, as I intend to try different stuff.
I'm starting with Tesco special offer of "buy 3 for £4" and getting:
    - Badger Fursty Ferret
    - Badger Golden Glory or Golden Champion
    - Badger Tanglefoot

Negra Modelo is pretty tasty IMO, though this is coming from a guy who doesn't mind having Natty Lite as the beer of choice for beer pong..

I'm actually a teetotaler, but I did do some work for a wine sales company once which taught me a lot about the alcohol industry, for example, this little resource - http://beeradvocate.com/lists/top

Peroni Nastro Azzuro literally means 'Blue Riboon' So that must be first place :)

p.s. also has a blue ribbon on it ;)

Personally I would say either Peroni or Bierra Morretti....man I love Italy

However I will say.....'Never go for anything in a can' Shame on anyone who does.....

Depends a lot on where you live, and what you've come to expect.
Are you looking far an "all night drinker", a "tasty Special", a "Refresh" on a hot day?
What's it in English pubs with the "Chilled" "Ice-Chilled" "Extra-Chilled" "Frosted".
Aftermath of drinking luke-warm p*ss for too long?
When in the UK, I try and drink whatever local beer/Ale/Stout is available. When in Rome...
I prefer my P*ss luke warm..in England that is. Your beers are made to be drunk like that, so it's OK.
Can't explain that to a German or Czech guy though. :D
In general, however, for botteled, I'd say Staropramen.

Bottled it would probably be Heineken or Peroni as I drink Amstel as a "cooking lager", but never really see it bottled.
