Well, then feel free to do what most of us on Bit-Tech who are watercooling our computers have done. You start out as a newbie, you work with it, you experiment and you gather information, opinions and experience from people online who are more than willing to share it. And then, after a few years of accumulating experience and knowledge on the subject, feel free to write a book about it. No-one will stand in your way and no-one will deny you your right to watercool your computer.
I just like the big caps part in the title. BIG ISSUE. Hm... Economy, unemployment, stuff like that is a BIG ISSUE. Water cooling ? It was never mainstream, and self-built water cooling systems never will be mainstream. The reason is simple - price versus effect. 30-40 euro air cooler with one fan will bring you 90% of the effect of a simple loop which will take at least 300e from your pocket. So why bother ?
I'd certainly hope so given that he is so adamant about being approached in a "streetwise" and "non-vexatious" way. Of course. Everything said in all-caps is automatically and by default true.
@OP It is clear (from navigating through your various threads) that you have absolutely no experience with watercooling, and thus you do not understand the criticism you receive when suggesting that WC should be universal. I however (and many others here on BT) do have experience with watercooling. Personally I have been watercooling my computers for the past 10 years, and I can tell you without a smidgeon of doubt that it never will be, nor should it ever be, made a universal standard. Also your suggestion that the public should pressure the government into making it a universal standard made me laugh out loud - thanks for that. Do you have the slightest idea as to how much maintenance a WC setup requires? No? Well, you really can't expect your average user to be subject to that. It is, however rather easy to set up a good WC system and make it work, and it will be somewhat reliable. But on occassion your pump might break or you might develop a leak. Then what? Furthermore, you will have to battle algae infestations - silver coils only do so much. I have been using the same silver CPU block for several years now, and yes the silver does help, but only to a certain degree. Even when my system was contained indoors I eventually got algae growing in my loop. The average user can not be subjected to this, and the average user is not interested in learning how to set up and maintain a WC system. The average user just wants a computer that works when he/she wants it to. So why would you want to pressure them into getting systems they don't want or need? And in closing; you may not be a troll, but you do certainly display troll-like behaviour.
Agreed I shall try my hardest but wiki doesn't seem to carry much info, so hopefully some can fill me in. I googleing and getting nothing! The force is strong in this one! Totally agreed. I started out with basic stuff and right now running a triple loop system is quite normal to me. Having plumbing as a second trade also helps..lol How could it be written in any other way. Shhhh. I won't tell if you don't
It seems streetwise, but unfortunately you failed to express yourself in a non-vexatious manner. Therefore you must face the consequences.
Oh I think I should start a new thread titled 'BIG ISSUE - HOW TO BE STREETWISE AND NON-VEXATIOUS'. Then we can all learn together
It’s like buying a brand new Ford from the dealership, taking it home and fitting a N02 kit then taking it back to the garage and asking them to service your highly specialised components. Yes you may be lucky and find some people that will install water cooling for you but they are likely to have a water cooled rig themselves, there is no formal qualification because the industry isn’t mature enough to warrant one, there isn’t really any demand. You only have to look at me by example, I have 0 yes 0 qualifications in IT, yet I have been a technician for 5 years, sometimes it a more than just a piece of paper. Could I water cool my rig...yes probably, is it going to run as cool as enthusiasts rig that has meticulously selected specific connector types, tube diameters pumps etc and then calculated flow rates, fluid viscosity, thermal performance of the liquid. You’re talking about Uni level science to get to grips with it know one is going to educate themselves to that degree so they can provide a water cooling service.
