Ingenuity right there , could you stick a 7970 in the server as well, we have an ancient PC running home server 2007 but it has a free pci-e slot. Stick a 7970 in there and I can get another 10p per hour
Try telling the mrs that. She already wears an eyemask for bed cause she cant sleep for all the Standby and Activity LED's/Geckos Heat bulb light/Mirrored Wall reflecting them and I wont turn them off, if I tell her to wear earplugs too I might end up out the window!
My home server (the one that'd be hosting our pool, should we decide to make one) has a 9800GT in it, bloody shame actually as I only sold a 5770 the other month i couldve put it in there instead!
I am going to be scouring the marketplace for watercooling and another 7950 or 2 7970s now, I should of got a mid tower .
the price of BTC keeps going up!! it was 160 usd the other day now its at 210 usd! https://btc-e.com/
What exchange rate do you use to work it out, the one I have been using is mtgox, is that more or less up to date than the one you linked? Also does the site you linked allow under 18s to trade bitcoins as well?
Looks like a bubble to me, the only questions are "When's it going to burst?" and "How much money are some people going to lose?"
Only time will tell, but seeing as there isn't a risk of political corruption or banks going bust and the fact that the speculation of it being a bubble started when it was 1btc to $20 suggests it has a little while longer. Also I have no money and a decent computer so quite happy to mine while it is worthwhile .
screenies? Heres mine going at full pelt using bitminter and MSI Afterburner. may turn up the overclock and see how it affects the heat. note the 97 celcius on Afterburner!
If you ever want to donate them send me a pm Speaking of gpus, if I was to cf my 7950 under water, could I get a 2nd 7950 that has a 1 slot pcie bracket otherwise it wont fit in my case?
I have been mining for a few months now. As many said, there is not really a lot of money to be done with this to be honest. As I see it, it's mainnly to recoup some of the costs of being a gamer and justify buying a killer rig. I probably play at most 2-3 hours a day, so for the rest of my time I placing my rig to mine. I have just ordered a second 7970 and going triple monitor soon. That second card should pay itself in about 3-4 months and I will probably have to get myself some earplugs for sleeping ;-) It would be cool to organise a bit-tech team. I think bitminter has such a feature.
Just asked on the official bitminter chat box, the guy in there didnt think it was possible [11:06] <bigc90210> is anyone here to answer a newbie question please? [11:07] <hausmarke> yep [11:08] <bigc90210> hi there, i use bitminer to mine as do a bunch of my friends, is it possible to make a group so we can all see how good we are mining? [11:08] <bigc90210> like a sub-group/team of the community [11:08] <hausmarke> not to my knowledge [11:10] <bigc90210> im guessing the only other option would be to make a new mining pool [11:21] <+DrHaribo> bigc90210: that's a great idea..I'll add it to my TODO list Seems the only option for us if we wanted to be a team would be to create a mining pool server and go from there. Still trying to find out the system requirements (and bandwidth requirements) to see if my server is up to par, but not finding much info atm :/
I keep hearing about litecoin as the new money making currency as it is far further away from asic hardware and it is about to launch on mtgox so the value 'should' skyrocket. Anyone else heard of it? Apparently it is less taxing on PCs as well and considring mine crashed overnight I might look into it.
