Without sounding sarcastic (as I'm not trying to be) 1) enter username as CPChimps 2) enter team number 35947
Chuckle! Yeah, that works for me, but then I know what I'm doing and adding the '-configonly' flag to edit settings - well, that's second nature. But we might a) get a few more people to take part and b) make it as painless as possible for people to change the username if we're a little more verbose about how they do that! Stuff like exactly when they should change the username might help. Also, should they finish current work unit, etc, etc. ie. A plan, rather than leaving people to their own devices. I guess that's what I'm trying to say. I'm deliberately trying to not tread on your toes, Mr Captain, Sir, Imperial leader, etc, etc. But I think we might need to be a little more verbose with the instruction sheet.
jackofall, if you spell my name wrong again (no "e" in spunky) im going to hunt you down and beat you round the head with a spare gtx280 although that will be before the 5th of may (if i can find you),then you can come out of the corner you was cowering in for a fortnight whilst i fry in my comp room. cheers spunkymonkey
whilst i think about the chimps challenge were not expected to start our work units from scratch again are we? on the devious side we could stop all our machines on around 99% the day before then fire them up at the correct time, instant and quick points cheers spunky
I've got to find out how the point scoring will work as I;'d happily change a few smp over 16 hours early to get the first WU within minutes of the comp starting.
As far as how the points are actually assigned by Stanford's servers, it doesn't matter when you change your username. The points are assigned based on the username/team given when the WU uploads. I.e. you can change your username over mid-WU and still get the points for the right username/team.
Oooooops!!! Sorry, Mr cpc folding leg end. Corrected. Oh, and a spare gtx280 - I can find a slot for that!
Is that allowed? I'm mean, er, um, no cheating! Or just part of the challenge? ie. stop all working clients at 99% prior to competition start, change username, fire them up again after the competition clock starts ticking...... A plan, a plan, we need a plan.
if some people think its a bit daughnting changing a few names on machines for the challenge ( apart from PS3/LanDi and his 400 machines) imagine how many this guy as to change at maximum pc.... http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/user_summary.php?s=&u=16330 now that is one ball ache of a job. cheers spunky
holy cow,i bet he/she doesnt pay the leccy bill.what about this one.... http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/user_summary.php?s=&u=443637 over 1.5 million ppd and its been upto 2.2 million. we really should treat ourselves to a few of the new xeons cheers spunky
Isn't this the guy who moved from evga to overclock, allegedly encouraged by the $700 'reward' offered on their forum. $377.26 Folding Bounty - Up to $726!
I'll give it a try - shoulld hit 2 million points on IwantAbetterPC in a few days, so that would be a good time to switch to CPChimps (or whatever the spelling is!) count me in too. 7 posts now before sig and avatar! Craig...
DrEv1l here - as long as I get my servers back in the land of the living then count me in. I had lots of problems with Ubu running in VMWare today. The SMP clients were trying to download a different core and then seemed to throw a mentalist fit.
