Usual process, take wood, depth it, circular saw, trim. This time need bandsaw to trim up, someone to hold camera someone to bansaw. Luckily there is a router, so will be able to either spindle or rout out the io slots, thats for another day now though. How long left Bulldog now, 6 years and 42 days?
"This time need bandsaw to trim up, someone to hold camera someone to bansaw" those your hands pablo , recognize your rolex peeping throw jumper sleeve in second photo lol keep up with ya good work, be careful with all them machines , dont want you ending up with a hand like mine.
Thanks Wayne, i think i went over the 15 minutes today though, was nearer 20 mins, so had to bolt down my sandwiches . Possibly tomoz i will route out slots and relief the edges for the mounting. I have a few things to sort out at work first though. have seen a few finger accidents before, and its not nice, Doctor said did you bring your fingers with you, so i can stitch them back I said "No" He said why So i said i couldnt pick them up.
Fortunateley was turning some legs today, so used this setup, with a few changes to make my feet for the build. Comments welcome, personally the only thing i would possibly change will be the height, but as was told by workmates, why make nice fancy feet then not be able to see them on the pc. here you go. Dont worry, i will put the center bore and counter in tomorrow.
So looking forward to it, as I'm planning one mini-ITX wood build myself as well. Unfortunately, still missing the funding.
I must admit, this part took much longer than the time i really had spare, kinda over run a little. Decided the cutout could be done by the recesser, so thought it was worth going for it, for neatness. Not sure what part im gonna do next, prob bottom panel, so i can evaluate the feet. IceyAero, hope you do find the funds, fortunateley this is not costing me any money yet. Hopefully i can give you some tips if required, wood is so much weaker, so have had to adjust thicknesses to suit, im so used to working with metal, this is the prob. im hoping the rear bracket shield plate, will be a very tight fit, as dont want it falling out, much easier with metal again. I may make a wooden version (think will be tricky), but would have to choose a mobo in order to do that.
The_Beast, Noted. Was trying to think up nice names, Was thinking this one (wood) be called "Tree Monster"
Cheers for the heads up So far I'm planning on using 1cm thick plywood, with some precision cutting required - the chassis would be more like a puzzle than a chassis
Because of the way ply layers itself, so the grain is in both directions, its very good for builds, i just wanted to go with nicer wood you see, so pretty tricky. I will expect i will make this build from metal at some point anyway.
Right, 15mins walk to shop, allowed 15 mins to do some more on the pc. So, had prepped the wood for rear panel. This time however i trimmed down using the ripsaw, this allowed me a straight edge for better trimming and squaring on the circular saw. Couldnt take pic of wip on the ripsaw, as its to dangerous and had no one to take pic. Ok, now fortunately i have a 70mm tool, so i could just about fit this into a standard pillar drill, which was really handy, saves alot of setting up on different machine. Who needs CNC router, marked this quick and by hand, and both holes perfect alignment, guess many years of experience does show sometimes. Hopefully i will have some more time tomoz, to do a little more. However im really happy with how its coming out so far, and is looking nice using proper stock material, rather than rubbish. quick test, to see how much kick im gonna get when drilling, not bad, so used just 1 c clamp. went fine.
