Hmmm... based on the table that's what I guessed. So, is the blade behind the yellow guard? Does the blade swing forward with the hinge at the top of the picture? I'm used to "radial arm saws" that have a big fixed arm at the top with the motor and blade sliding underneath it, like this: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00922010000P?prdNo=2&blockNo=2&blockType=G2
Yes indeed your all correct. Yellow bit is a guard, and does pull out and swing as you say. Tend to use this particular saw when cutting down from initial large stock. (basically still a tree) I hope to end up using more machines, so you can see. Thanks robi09, hope you enjoy, although may still be a while till finishing.
Was hoping to get rear panel finished today, but was far too busy at work as usual . However i was doing a job a while back, thats allowed me to route out the top 2 slots and counterbored holes for fans, spindled for rounded edges and light coat of laquer to stop warping whilst im not working on it much Maybe tomoz, iw ill get some time, but i doubt it. More of a post, to say ive not given up on this project.
Managed to get in another 15 minutes today. Set pendulam rotary saw to a depth, to allow me to cut slot so that i can fit the midshelf, without having to use ugly brackets and screws. Told you this will be slow build, but hope you are sticking with it? Thats all for prob a while again, unless i see an oportunity to get a few more bits done.
Yeah, I love the smell of wood also, makes a change from the smell of oil, from previous jobs. As we make production furniture parts in general, i used standard stock which is beech. I could order any type of stock, but is easier to use what we have. we have many stains, but have been advised to use raw . Its a case of being able to squeeze in this case between customers work, hence the very very slow progress. Thanks for the nice comments. Bulldog, yeah i think about it most days, how i can squeeze bits in, people at work getting fed up with me talking about it i think. The rear part is prob gonna be the trickiest, so hopefully plain sailing after that.
Im deffinately calling this a major update, fair bit of seting up time involved with this. Still some work on this needed, but 99% finished rear panel.
Thanks Waynio, the cutout for the psu, im doing almost blind, SFF jobby.(it had better fit) Monday, i must laquer it up again, now i have a super smooth sanded finish. Was going to do the pci part dark mahogany and the rest laquered. Cant wait till the weekend is over, so i can go back to work and hopefully get a little more done Riek, yeah , it has some real depth to it, wasnt sure at first, but im liking it more and more. Bottom panel next i think. ?
Thanks guys. I should of ordered a ssf psu for fitting, but was gonna try to avoid buying internals till really needed. I dont need the pc as such, but working with wood, it was just too tempting not to have a go at making a pc case. Was thinking about some carving on the back panel, but you will have to wait and see on that, shall i or shant i. Im not a carver, but im sure our carver would guide me if i wasnt doing a very good job of it, but its my project, so it will have to be me who carves it, which is fair enough i suppose.
Looking good Pablo Nice design, although I noticed metal angle brackets attaching bottom panel how about using dowels
