Get practising then! You have a LOT of inks.Fancy taking a photo of them unboxed in all their glory? Can anyone recommend a nice writing paper as well, preferably in pad form. Too much bleeding with printer paper and cheap note paper.
I will do at some point, that will required a lot of time though! I do need to practice more, I shall do some tonight This is the paper that I use, it is very nice: http://www.thewritingdesk.co.uk/showproduct.php?brand=G+Lalo&range=Velin+de+France&cat=paper&subr=
Thanks Two of them are missing though! I need to get a dip pen and spend an afternoon cataloguing them all properly.
This just arrived with me, a present from my wife: A Monteverde Invincia Titanium Now to decide on an appropriately awesome ink
Sister got me some 200gsm paper this week. It's amazing to write on. Sorry for the terribad phone pic.
I'm going to keep this thread alive. Amidst starting college in september, I'm going to go on a pen shopping spree. I've decided to stick to rollerballs as they're just less hassle for me. I'm sure I'll try a fountain pen soon though, I've got a think for gorgeous nibs. Been looking in the Pen Shop and I'm definitely getting the Ferrari pen, and custom lathed Franck Muller pen on Ebay, and I definitely need to get a couple of custom wood and acrylic pens (this is where you come on Simon! )
Very nice! Thanks guys! Edit: Forget it. I've been watching videos. Now I need one of you to recommend me a selection nice fountain pens and inks. I can spend up to 40GBP on each pen, but if I really like it, that can be more.
I'm considering getting the Lamy Safari linked a couple of times in this thread, but does anyone know of any resources on learning to write better/properly? I used a fountain pen up to the age of 17 having learned to write with one, but i mostly type now and most of what i write is just chicken scratch notes for myself (all in caps in case anyone else has to read it). I do write 'properly (in passages) in my non-work notebooks, and that makes it obvious how poor my handwriting is. the safari is pretty cheap on amazon, but there's a pen shop just up the road from work. would anyone care to recommend some paper, a size of nib and/or an ink to get me started? I understand i need a convertor to use bottled ink rather than cartridges. Paper would preferably be in some form of soft leather cover notebook, though i am curious about bookbinding too (is there a thread for that?). I currently use a variety of rollerballs, my current preference is for this : http://www.tigerpens.co.uk/acatalog/Pilot_G3_Broad_Gel_Ink_Rollerball_Pen_1.0mm_Tip_.html My previous pens are a cheap yellow plastic one i learned to write with, and a black/blue pinstriped parker vector which lasted me from ages 6 to 17. I suspect both are in a drawer at my parents so I have no photos.
