I'm looking in to it, I've always wanted a nice ink well on my desk. I just wish I had more things to write.
Just getting back into calligraphy now I have a bit of time at the end of the semester. Haven't done this for ages. Quite (horrific) mix of italic and carolingan. I ordered a proper caligraphy pen on Sunday, the Rotring Art pen set so I can practise my gothic script.
Actually, this is what my gothic does if I don't have guide lines... The fact I was writing on £5/500sheet 80gsm printer paper didn't help.
Since you guise didn't bother with your write off, here's some poetry. (Last time I'll post calligraphy here, honest!) My rotring arrives tomorrow, excitement!
I love calligraphy, and I wish I had the patience to do it - part of the reason I write with a fountain pen is because otherwise my handwriting would be illegible! I'm in awe of anyone who can do proper, freehand calligraphy: I also love artistic calligraphy, like this (I went to see an exhibit of Jonah Jones in Cardiff a few weeks ago. My mind was blown.) tl;dr: I'm jealous
Honestly, for those looking for a great writing pen that isn't fancy and is cheap... I haven't ever found anything better than a Uni-Ball Jetstream. No build-up. No bleeding. Smooth writing in any direction(Maybe not upside down). As far as cheap pens go I don't think it gets any better. http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_...cpncode=31-105043614-2&sid=IDx20121113x00001b <<Just a quick google search to give you an idea of the Pen.
Haha sorry! Generally I Google the ink name and then see who has it in stock, penboutique, wheelers luxury gifts, eBay, the writing desk etc.
My Rotring arrived! I'll upload some sample handwriting in a bit if anyone wants. It's a very nice pen for £20. I'd highly recommend it to anyone wanting to get started in the basic calligraphic styles(basically everything that isn't copperplate based).
