The design is simple but attractive, go on, shock me!

141 Watts?!? That is very high IMO. I would guess that your Blu-Ray drive is the culprit. I have heard that many older Blu-Ray's were serious power hogs.

Your plans look great. Welcome to the wonderful world of mini-ITX.

140+ watts is way high in any of the mini-ITX I have ever built. The boards Cheapskate and I have with C7s are rated at 25-45 watts max. One 2.5 laptop drive is about the same. Where is the rest coming from? The Blue-Ray? or is your board using more than a VIA or Jetway?
A good Pico-PSU at the top rating is 120 watts. Probably 110 sustained for any period of time.

What to watch for is 'startup surge'. Spin up of HDD and optical is generally not listed in most specs.

Great modeling on the sketchup or whatever you used.

Sweet, another E.E.L mod. I want to make myself HTPC but I would never be able to educate dad in the art of how to use it lol.

    LOL! Blasted Japanese garbage trucks....

It is. It's really cool IRL.

    I hope I can! :)

    Thanks!

I'm thinking that too, but I'm going to grab a Kill-O-Watt to verify.

I think the system should float around 100w under full load, give or take 10w. I'm really shooting for that. If I can't, I'll reassess what I need to do.

    LOL. Thanks, man! I'll try.

Thanks. Me neither! I've come to appreciate the small builds as well.

Thanks, mate. Most people would see that little box next to the TV and think, "where's the remote, and how come the channel won't change?" :hehe:

LOL, nah. Been trouble-shooting Noire as well as dealing with some unfortunate events that occurred int he last couple of days. I'm hoping to mess with it really soon though.

    Jan. 11th Mini-Update!

Alright, didn't get a whole lot done on the build due to other...issues...but I won't get into that.

I did finally get a hold of the fans I've been wanting to use though. Awesomely quiet fans too. The fans are Noiseblocker BlackSilentFans. They fit the build theme perfectly too, but the bonus is that they are really quiet while moving enough air.

    I love that color!

Let's sleeve these. I figured blue sleeving with black shrink. Not that it really matters though; you won't see it much.

...And all sleeved. I can't believe how quiet these things are.

...And the replacement CPU fan installed. Really quiet. Slightly slower spin with slightly more airflow, probably due to the thicker fan.

    Next up: case!

Until the next update, I got nuthin'. :thumb:

I love the noiseblockers... I used to have a set of XL2's and they were very nice. Some of the only fans I've ever been able to run at 4.5v.

Thanks! I don't really know, TBH. It only takes CPUs up to 95W though.

They're really nice if you're into blue! :)

Awesome. Yeah, the XL2's do have a lower startup. I think the XL1's start @ 6v or something, but still quite nice. The only other low-startup fans I've used were the F version Scythe S-Flex's, that start at 4, if my memory serves me correctly.

I got them from FrozenCPU, being in the States here. Overseas, I'm guessing they may be easier to get since they're German, but I don't really know. Good luck on the hunt!
