I do enjoy conversing with the denizens of the internet and their oft polite manners . Yup, I promise pics and benchmarks galore - speaking of which, anyone have any (free) benchmarks in particular they want to see run? I'll be using a few games I have as well (yes, Crysis ).
I shop from the budget end of the market and unfortunately even if I was offered one for free I would have to sell it on. The fear of my 550W not being able cope and the raging inferno my case would too much to bare.
GTX280 not slowing down here, so i asks myself 'what's the point!' Even if i had to upgrade ATI is a shockingly good choice and has been for a while since the 4870 hit the market. I went GTX280 as i had the monies and was using it with CAD applications at the time, now i have a Quadro FX for that, so upgrade choice would be a 5850 or greater. But considering the 5850 isn't much of a speed boost from a GTX285, and the GTX285 is a cooler and a little bit faster than a GTX280, im just fine thank you very much.
Gonna XFire a pair of 5770's instead now, the GTX470 was a maybe but at £300+ its too much, I won't even pay that for a 5870, far too much! Spent £220 once on a GPU and I really can't justify any higher any more, bit dissapointing by the looks of things but drivers may improve, but Fermi is not for moi
what annoys me is i was looking at grabbing another 4770, but thought maybe fermi would be good and drop ati prices slightly. the xfx 4770 on newegg went up $20...lolz
I won't be buying one, unless my boiler breaks down in a fiery explosion taking out my ability to hear as well, leaving me cold and deaf.

Is there anybody left in the market for a new GPU?! With all the crappy games about and people running everything from 88GTs to 4890s to 5870s there can't be anybody that would gain anything from purchasing one of these cards??? I'm not getting one because it'll be summer in a minute and if I'm still inside playing games I'll be missing the beach. I'll have a rethink in October.
after gotten PhysX to work with my card plus my old gtx260, i realised that i don't actually miss it bar 2 games (Batman AA and Mirror's Edge) so i don't think i'll be buying nVidia cards until the next PhysX game come out, where i'll assess situation and if hybrid PhysX performs good, a GT440 or similar should be good enough as PPU.
I usually upgrade the core components of my machine every three years, but to be honest, there isn't a good reason to do so at the moment. There's no killer game or app that's pushing my system so buying a GTX480 for the hell of it would be pointless. Besides, I don't have a PSU strong enough to restart a dieing sun, so running a single 480 is right out.
Just watched this. ****ing hilarious As for the above post. Exactly. Aside from Crysis, any game will run on just about anything at 1680 and most things at 1920 these days. What's the point......
Well if you look at my sig I'm using a 3870 which is in dire need of an upgrade but for £30 it is the perfect GPU for me. If I had the cash to spare I would buy a 5850 vapor-x/toxic or a 5870 vapor-x right now and probably wouldn't upgrade for 2 generations
