looks like a very solid PSU

question tho i consistently find the PSU to be the noisiest thing in myu machines is the FDB system really that good is it so quiet as to be unnoticable after about 1m.

i have bought so called siilent psu's in the past only to be dissapointed

It really is difficult to tell it's running sometimes. At 50% load I had to put my ear directly over it. I certainly don't use the term "silent" unless it's actually inaudible.

:D Glad to read this, it's amazing how much it gets used when it's just a lie.

I like those fan connectors, they could have been sleeved though.

Rich, how quiet are these units compared with the current Corsair HX units running at low fan mode?

I guess they are fairly comparable. Or at least I hope they are!

I've not got a HX in house for comparison but Seasonic insist on using Ball Bearing fans which are quiet, but not FDB quiet.

You are going to replace a 600w+ psu for another 600w+ psu. This doesn't make any sense. Maybe you want to replace it for a 700w+ psu?

i bought this exact PSU a month ago, and have to say its the best purchase i made. got it for £97 delivered from tekheads.

    (im in the UK btw)

the only thing is the warranty, but im sure pay about £20 to get it shiped and repaired and back will be worth it, IF it does go wrong. and yes the review is right, i couldnt hear a damned thing. I thought it was broken, but then my computer turned on w.o a hitch, AND it is very stable.

for germany, they have a 48hour swap on sight service, bring there here, and it'll be amazing :)

Good review, looks like a very nice power supply, modular (yay) and a good feature set with low noise output. My only quarrel is: 4 x 12v rails... I'm lazy, give me a single 12v rail @ 54-60A and let me be :( (By that I mean another viable competitor against Corsair's and PC Power and Cooling single 12v rail line-up... the more competition, the better, and hopefully more aggressive pricing in response).

Yeah, the supply is OEMed by Topower (as are Tagan and OCZ units) so it should be fairly reliable.

I'm just doing a little upgrading and maybe have a project in mind which could use the hx. I figure if I'm ugrading bits from my existing box i might as well upgrade the psu while I'm at it but i don't need any extra power. Less noisy and more efficient is nice. Why upgrade to more power than I need just for the sake of it ? :) Or am I missing something?

No it's FSP. They used to use Topower in old revisions.

Jasio - I agree, but ONLY when a single 12V is done well with high quality components, otherwise it's a liability.

The fact that you did not test the noise level of this PS says volumes about your testing method.
Is this a joke? Would people buy a silent PS for it's power ratings or how silent it is when it's being used heavily?
I really don't take any review of a quiet products seriously unless they include some kind of db rating system, and even some audio captures at different distances.
