I would kill for some 150 grit wet/dry sandpaper. You could work indoors if they made some.
-Just don't dip your sander in the water.:eeek:

    You really mean 150 grit?
Here you can find it for every Prisma-store, its allmost like an Wall-mart in US. Attleast one in every Town and City. There i can get every sanding paper between 40-1200. 1500-> i have to go to nearest paintshop.

    lol @ Cheap's wet/dry comment

Easter brought a break this afternoon so I could get back to this project. I'm using a rotary tool with grinder attachment for excavating filler from the crevices of the bezel frame.

The grinder attachment works great, it also smooths the surface of the filler like fine sandpaper. [IMG]

this project is time consuming, but it will pay off in the end :dremel:

    Lots more work ahead

Thanks for the comment! I hope to get out today and get all of the grinding done, layer the final coat of filler to fill in any pin holes, sand that layer later this week and be done with this stage.

I've mentioned this before - your pictures just reminded me. The ribbed tubing in the trunk lid of my Hyundai Elantra is NOT split loom. It is ribbed and solid. I told the people I would check with the dealer but I forgot. The dealer I bought it from is a putz.

    Good job all around.

I can only assume that such shaping and carving takes a bloody long time, but even what appears to be a small enough change, just hints at the future cheesecake-worthiness of this mod.

Been a massive Giger fan ever since I first saw his renditions of the Alien when I was a kid, so I have massive interest in this mod. Can't wait to see more. :thumb:

Thank you guys. Part of me wants it done this weekend just so I can step back and see it finished. The other part is enjoying the fact theres no deadline for it's completion. It's been a theraputic escape. Thats why I love modding so much.

Heres after sanding the 2nd application of Evercoat brand "Everglass: (short strand) fiberglass filler. I thought this would be the final coat, but I'm not satisified with the results yet. btw: I'm recording stages of the bezel for YouTube after getting several requests offlist. I'll remember to edit out all of the boring stuff..lol!

I love the way this mod is turning out! Do you plan to do a Watchmen mod in the future?

    Most excellent!
You have admitted to the world that you are in therapy a couple posts back.[IMG]

With all these cool mods did you ever have a "Bill Mod" in mind. Just for Bill, not for a customer or a show. Just a 'smine' and/or "a because"

Most of us after a while develop thoughts about a mod done just to satisfy me

A closet mod that is not for the forums but just 'because it is me'.
