I know its not of the upmost importance, but does anyone else think that its wrong for the Queen to get a normal train?

Apparently she only had ONE security guard. Personally, I think she should be travelling around in a (small) convoy of armoured Range Rovers.

I found it quite funny that no-one really noticed her when they walked through Kings Cross station! :)

I think there's a mistake in the article. It says that the queen departed from Platform 11, but I'm almost certain she would have used 9 3/4.

She normally uses her Private own train, Hauled by a Purple Class 67, with a full set of Pullmans i believe (i only know because one on a special stopped at Chichester the other month) But i think it's quite nice that she pays for a full 1st class fare.
And i almost bet i wouldn't recognise her even if she was in full attire, let alone normal civvies.

Your last comment shows why it is a non-problem. Security is good, stealth is better. Nothing shouts TERRORIST TARGET HERE!!! more than a convoy of armoured cars. But inconspicuously going by train made her travel unnoticed.

Being a British citizen (albeit only being in England once) I am glad to see that the Queen does not rely solely on armored car transport and uses public transport.

    FFS.

She's either a national treasure who should be constantly protected in which case she shouldn't be on the train like that really, or she's just a doddering old granny that is no longer significant to anything but the tourism trade and a few other institutions in which case she shouldn't be in the news. Can't go both ways.

And stealth is good for a terrorism threat I suppose, but it still puts her more at risk to accidents and crimes of opportunity. She might not get blown up, but she does risk getting mobbed by sudden fans (especially in this day and age of mobile twitter etc) or yobs.

    Or happy slapped.

2005 called - they want their buzzword back.

On a more positive note, it's nice to see the Queen getting out and about. I honestly thought she would have popped her clogs by now!

I bet she can throw a few of her own punches. She did fight Hitler in a bare fist Muay Thai match after all over 12 rounds and won with a roundhouse kick that sent Hitler's moustache into the crowd.
