Dyson Air Multiplier - like a desk fan, but without the blades. It's spooky and really quite quiet. I'm now waiting on a mod that uses one of these as a porthole into a case.

Sorry for bursting the bubble Puresilver but it does indeed have fanblades in the base :p

It's a ducted fan, I think (you can't see very much without taking it apart, and even though I didn't pay for it I'm not doing that to a one-day-old item) but what else would you expect - ion drives? I'm getting more and more enamoured of Dyson products - they seem to be a bit Apple-esque in that they're very thoroughly designed, which is a philosophy I can definitely get behind. The showing off is a bit more overt, but it is pretty cool.

That looks pretty damn cool, but £200 is bloody expensive for a desk fan.

Does it work as well as they claim?

To be brutally honest, £200 seems expensive for a graphics card, let alone a desk fan :eyebrow:

(Tho, could be that my standards are different. Or that I have no job :D)

They do work, quite well actually, I saw some on display in an appliance store, They are silent, the motor is in the base and you cannot hear it. They provide a decent amount of air, about the same as any desk fan on medium.

Yeah, but it's quite a few years since I last spent £200 on a graphics card.

Then again, the fan will probably last way longer than a graphics card.

I'm just trying to figure of if they are worth the price. I really want one, but haven't found any stores nearby (Or in Norway at all) that sell them.

Maybe I could try to build one myself...

I would say it would be worth it if you didn't have to ask. A normal fan will work just as well, If you want to impress people then yes, if you like fancy things then yes, if you just want a fan that works, this is too expensive.

EDIT: Bought another Sup Com 2 for my brother, Wipeout HD + expansion and Jumping Flash <- got that on a demo disk with my first PS1.

I saw one in a store the other day, and found it to be annoyingly loud tbh, even on lowest settings. I could never see myself using one, even if I'd get one free. But then I've never used a desk or room fan before ever, can't stand the noise.
