Anyone else think they shouldn't release this? It could well kill the Duke Nukem theme all together and ruin it for veteran gamers.

It's like meeting your favourite celebrity. Cue, Richard Hammond and Evil Knevil.

I want a last stand with mindless slaughter. Stand on the top tier of a stadium and just shoot and survive. Like mentioned, load up and gun. I can't wait for the masses proclaiming about the 13years of development. Chances are internal politics actually stopped anything from being done or lack of resources. Look how long COD and fifa is developed in yet the mindless drones love it. If the old charm is there this could be good, mindless violence, destructable enviroments some comic timing and you already have something that is ”original” by todays standards. 13years wait until the market is ready lol

I bought Borderlands through steam when it was only like £10 with the 3 DLC and I noticed last night it gave me a DNF Demo key even though its not the GOY edition!

What kind of hardware do you need to get a playable framerate with all the settings turned up?

I want this game, but I'm worried about the "weak tacked on driving sections"... if I wanted to drive a car (in a game) I'd go play GTR Evo.

I've never enjoyed driving minigames yet in any game they're in.

+1 for DNF comment of the year.

Also, despite all the bad jokes about 13+ years or w/e, the development timeline had nothing to do with the story, its engine, or anything else directly related to the game itself. It had everything in the world to do with budgeting, VERY poor development cycle planning, no coherent vision for the game from its publishers, and just general, all around irresponsible behavior on behalf of the publishers (and maybe 3D Realms themselves, but I still love them dearly for Shadow Warrior).

I like that within a matter of weeks of a competent developer getting their hands on the project there was a release date, playable preview and demo scheduled. Gearbox clearly looked at the pile of idiocy that they inherited from the previous developers, said, "So, you want an FPS plus LULZ yeah?" then knocked it all together in a matter of a few months. Because a real games developer can do that.

Given that I didn't like the 'ambience' of the original, and the turgid by-the-numbers gameplay, it's clear that there won't need to be any unnecessary angst when it comes to making a purchasing decision. I'll leave DNF to the sentimental fools who have forgotten how dated the originals were even at the time. And when it comes out for a fiver on Steam in 6 months, I'll still leave it.

Duke Nukem is my uncle in RL. He has been chilling out, semi-retired, in an undisclosed desert island filled with girls. The only reason he is coming back is that he was convicted of some "indiscretion" with a girl who was too much a girl, the judge, who was a fan of the originals told him he could either go to jail or finally go back to the States to make another game.
So Uncle Duke is back, but he is pissed at having to leave his desert paradise. I pity the alien scum...
