Not that I've tried them, but Asus and MSI are perfectly well known brands!

I wouldn't call Asus or MSI budget cards?

True, but is far more powerful! I'd definitely go with the 5870!

I agree, the price has dropped a lot since the 5870's came out and they're still a very respectable card in terms of power and temps, one of the best behaved cards you can get.

The reason I called the budget was because they were the cheapest of the 560s :)

I forgot all about the 5870. I'm still unsure.

I'd look at the BT review of the 560. The 5870 seems to be an equal, and as Ph4ZeD said, the 560 will overclock far further.

Heh, and to think I started looking at the 560 Ti results!

If you can get one at a good price a GTX460 may also be worth a look. Fundamentally it is identical to the GTX560 but you may be able to save yourself £20 and not really lose anything in the process*.

*The GTX560 *may* overclock further but it isn't guaranteed as the GTX460 already overclocks well.

Another comparison (well as close as I can get) to pad out Bit's rather Anaemic results:

    HD5870 vs GTX560Ti

Rather mixed bag here although remember this is against a GTX560TI not a GTX560. Games that don't heavily favour Nvidia seems to be slightly faster on the HD5870 (Crysis, BFBC2, Metro) although in the end the results could be called a wash.

Thanks for that xaser. I don't think I would go for a 460 as it is to close to the 275 in performance.

At the same clocks a GTX460 and a GTX560 will perform exactly the same. Only the lower stock clocks on the GTX460 make it look slower.

Oddly though since I last checked GTX460 pricing has slowly crept up whilst GTX560 pricing has slowly dropped. There is only around £10 in it now which means it makes more sense to get the quicker-out-of-the-box GTX560 than the GTX460.

    You know you want it.

Plus we've got a GPU Tweak for all cards (not just ROG) launching next month

What, to replace that complete heap of **** that is Smart Doctor? Also, please make all your cards voltage control compatible with Afterburner. I know it's a competitor's product, but it's where it is because it's the best. I refer to the 6850 Direct CU. V1 was compatible, yet the V2 wasn't, which made voltage tweaking a complete pain in the arse.

A bit of an explanation aswell guys.

I am upgrading my screen very soon but i don''t think my 275 will handle 1920 x 1080 very well.

I will either get a new gfx with the screen or else get new SSD and wait for the 6xx series and 7xxx series.

Thanks for all the replies guys.
    BT always shines through.

In that case wait until you upgrade your screen. New GPU's will probably be out by then.

Yea Smart Doctor is finally being dumped. Apparently it's about 8 years old.

GPU Tweak should be better than Afterburner once we're done. That's the spec the designers have otherwise I'll go upstairs and start throwing chairs. It'll work across all our cards and if you run SLI/CF/PhysX/Multi-GPU you can change each card individually too.
