The next stage of modelling. Holes will serve as ventilation. Unfortunately dremel failure slows me a bit. It is hard to shape them with another tool.
I'am still shaping the form. Here at the very top there will be warm air outlet. Something like a chimney. I have a concept how to cover all those holes. (There will be more of them). But any suggestions will be greatly appreciated
A few photos. As you can see, there's little progress. Mostly, because glueing wood takes a lot of time.
I love this look! very creative. For the holes, you coud attach screening (from a door or window screen) to the inside of the structure. Maybe attach with a staple gun? I wouldn't put anything on the outside - I think that it looks good with the holes. Another idea might be to use flame to darken the wood inside the holes, fading from the natural outside to the dark interior...
Yes. I was thinking about something similar. For now there are two ideas: 1. Using brass. 2. Using black plexi. But I'm still thinking. Thanks Too easy. And not in my style I know. I love the look of almost any fruit tree wood Yesterday I've glued back plate to the case.
Wooooooooow that looks awesome my friend!!! Really really nice job, I would like to have something similar in my living room!! Mod on buddy cant wait to see more of this!
Looking at your mod I think you will I was inspired by something you should know very well - olive tree
wow... great work you've done here... love the chuncks of real wood. also love the fact that there are no flat surfaces.
Thx ! Practically, I managed to give a proper shape to the case. Still a lot to sand, but roughly it is already in the target shape. In the meantime, I have to finally design how to cover the "holes". At the moment I came up with two variants. 1st Using brass. But I do not really like this idea. 2nd Using a black Plexiglas. Here is a green insert. But ultimately I consider only the black. Well, now I would ask for advice. How to bend plexi to get similar shape as on the photo ??
Heat it up. Hard part will be heating it evenly, needs a pretty big oven, or you could do it in smaller parts, say a couple inches bigger than the holes, then lay it over the holes once it's hot and massage it to shape. You won't have much time, probably less than a minute.
You could probably lay the plexi over the holes and use a industrial heat gun like ones for plastic welding something like this but maybe not as expensive at least you can get the idea
I've had a go at those (Well, not that model; One from Makita) and they will melt anything with ease ! I love it for heatwrapping or even soldering !
