Linux Minecraft; Official Bit-tech server

According to what the server list on my minecraft client says that one is creative with up to 64 members.

 

Gah, all of my minecraft servers are down

 

Anyone have any slime infested dungeons? Or slime balls that I can have?

 

I've only just started up on the server, so nothing at the moment.
I'll keep an eye out.

 

I want REAL internet connection again!!! *sigh*

Was out searching cows for beef. Found about 20 in one spot! killed one, and the server crashed!

It seems there was once instance still running so the port was being hijacked.

Ah, back to the Minecraft thread...

I've been off playing IndustrialCraft SSP over these past few days - first impressions = EPIC >.< Generators, electric furnaces, macerators, NUCLEAR REACTORS... I am thinking of coming back on SMP now though - SSP gets a bit boring. I still need to finish off my house (aka actually start it) and find that zombie dungeon that me and MrsFio dug up. For the rotten flesh, you see

..yeah.. about that..
When I logged back in, I was creeped trying to get out of the caves..
I did find the place again tho, but I didn't find it in time to save all the goods we collected in the caves.
After I found the place again I buildt a trap around the dungeon, and u will find the rotten flesh in the little sandstone house (connected by a corridor to the trap) just outside spawn - on the desert-side..
Just follow the road..

To get zombies to spawn in the trap tho - u need to go down the stairs inside the traphouse, to be closer to the spawnroom (they don't spawn if there's noone near) and then u get back upstairs and collect the rotten flesh.

Good luck - and oh - there's rotten flesh in the public chest in the little cabin too..
eat all u want - I don't like that kind of "food".

and again - thanx for the adventure in those caves - it was thrilling

 

Is there any hope of me getting the base client to run from behind a proxy?

My halls of residence require me to use it to connect. I'm not playing it at work or in lectures. I've been playing on the website, but the applet is running out of memory fairly quickly so I have to log every 5 minutes or so.

 

Theoretically you could use a VPN and ForceBindIP to make Minecraft run through it, it'd be a bugger on Ping Times, though.

 

As long as the proxy allows minecraft.net and the https protocol (if you can run the applet, then it will work) then you can use the java option

And that will run Java through the http proxy that you chose. so the final command would be like:

EDIT: Actually, you might need to use a SOCKS proxy because just an HTTP proxy will not forward the HTTPS login requests - which uses the same syntax as the HTTP proxy just with -DsocksProxyHost instead of -Dhttp.proxyHost. Same goes for the other options. Failing that, you could try using an HTTPS proxy alongside the HTTP proxy - uses the command -Dhttps.proxyHost

 

I need to find a way to play minecraft online. Uni servers are blocking connections at the moment (although not to prevent people playing, more for a safety point of view I beleive).

 

Blocking connections to what? HTTPS cannot be filtered as it is encrypted, so find out if HTTPS works (go and try to log in to some bank or something). If yes, then check minecraft.net. If that is the problem them you need an external proxy - I tried to do the same thing at my school. It all worked, but I was caught and they promptly disabled HTTPS
