I had a phone call off my mate very upset lol 1am so not happy his pc locked by met police demanding £100 because of illegal activity to reactivate his pc(naughty vids) i done a little search around and downloaded windows defender offline so he picked it up 6am(not happy) found 3 programs so cleaned it, but still coming up so phone call later tried system restore so far not coming back up is that the end of it? Another note he waiting for the police to turn up lol as i told him why would they ask for money for you to carry on with so called illegal activity, Might get my mate to knock on his door later as he is a copper lol. sorry if not very clear not working on much sleep. yes do this first, but then it might help if he disables system restore, load into safe mode and then run anti-virus/ malware byte.
The police is not in the habit of locking people's PCs and then demanding £100,-- to unlock it, so colour me confused.
This is an increasingly common scam. Virus based, takes over, demands "On the spot fine" or similar, you give these guys £100 and then don't tell anyone about it because it's embarrassing and scary, hence others don't find out and fall for the same virus, which is still actually on your system, so can be propagated more easily. Quite clever in terms of social engineering.
As i said to him why would the police take money from you to carry on illegal activity's lol they dont take bribes any more its not the 20's.
Get some sleep, then consider what you wrote, then consider punctuation and sentence construction, common sense and the like and then get back in touch.

As others have said this is NOT coming from any kind of official authority. There are a lot of variants of this scam claiming to come from the German Bundespolizei, the West Yorkshire Police and many more. The most important thing is: DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE PAY! As for getting rid of it people seem to have had a lot of success using the free version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, as mentioned earlier in this thread.
Me no understand me go rong wher lol on plus side his pc is working fine now so he's back downloading copious amounts of adult images lol Till the next time
