As much as I belly ache about stuff, I'm still really excited for this. I know it's gonna be modern setting but I really hope they mix it up a bit!

I will be buying BF4. Pre order maybe. 800 hours or more for sure.

Battlefield 3 has been a constant game I have played this year. I have loved and hated it for various reasons. Lets hope they do not repeat the mistakes made in BF3.

I actually far prefer present day settings, so fine by me!

Yes, most of the things suggested in that report sound great don't they? I've already accepted there might be microtransactions, but they were handled fine in BF3, so as long as they go the same way I have no problems with that.

Just out of interest, does anyone still play BF2? Noticed it on my shelf the other day and I'm debating whether it's worth an install...

    Occasionally yes.

It's a shock how much harder than 3/BC2 it is though! Random death seems to come out the very walls.

BF2 is a lot less forgiving, harder to master and it pays to be cautious! Where as BC2/BF3 is a never ending sprint.

I hope they go more toward BF2 than COD with this next installment.

I think that's a path they'll sadly never return too.

Shooters seem to need to tell player 'you're awesome!' every ten seconds or so now, which is no more apparent than in the scoring system. 100 points in a round is a big deal in BF2, now it's 450 for a complete flag capture and a big blue sign in the middle of the screen.

It's all very forgiving, but it's less rewarding than getting good scores on BF2 used to be.

Who doesn't want to be told 'you're awesome' every 10 seconds?

I love the feeling of getting a multi kill and seeing +100, +100, +100, +100 scroll up on my screen and I'm no dumb COD junkie.

So getting 100 points in a game before was good, now its 10,000 - what's the difference, its all relative - both are impressive scores as long as everyone is on the same playing field.

Someone further up the page said that 'random death seems to come out of the very walls' - sounds like a pretty frustrating experience to me.

BF3 is pretty close to perfect in my eyes (don't like all of the maps, but in terms of gameplay and pace)

I hope sea warfare is involved in the mp and not just the campaign.

That was me, it does, but it makes it all the more satisfying when you stop blundering about and learn to survive, but you do have to learn.
