It could be terrible.
But it's written by the guy who wrote Moon (which is an excellent film) and as I recall 1984 (the book) has a romance at it's core anyway, so a "romantic remake" is hardly a stretch.
Also, actors can develop over time and when given different material to work with.

Or just pretend it doesn't exist and watch Brazil.

1984 has already been done in, well, 1984 actually, shot on location in London in that year. Main characters were John Hurt, Susannah Hamilton and Richard Burton. Soundtrack was by the Eurhythmics. I mean, how can you improve on that?!?

Oh, wait, you can't. This film is an epic classic. It is cinematic art of the highest order. Any attempt to do a remake is a crime against celluloid.

 

Based on my older sisters experiences ( her little 'un is just over 3 years old ), I'd say this is worryingly accurate.

It's the feeding test that really bothered me. Why spill water all over your floor‽ - it doesn't give you that same "I must have missed a bit the other night" bitter tang as the regurgitated milk starts to go sour under the fridge or wherever...
