You'd think Sky would offer it as a single channel service, if they wanted to increase the number of viewers. Depending on price, it's probably the only thing that might have prevented me from ditching Sky last year.

Its purely going to be because it is on Sky, it can't be attributed to Hamilton, what a balls article, I know I am less invested than I was ever since the time share and that is despite actually enjoting some of the racing of the past couple of years a lot more. Despite Mercs dominance there has been some good performances to watch.

Not a lot of point in continuing to watch if it goes Sky fulltime.

I've always wondered why Sky don't offer a "Pick'n'Mix" package - choose whatever channels you want, for something like £1 pm for basic stuff, £2.50 pm for "premier" channels.

I don't want an "Entertainment" package that consists of 50% trashy reality TV, and I don't want a "Sports" package that is 70% football....

Give F1 back to the TV channels that everyone has access to, don't charge them a penny for it and replace the money from TV channels by taking more money from the multi billion corporations that advertise on the side of the tracks.

the takeaways from the article are [from where i'm sat at least] -

whilst sky's numbers are up over last year, they've remained pretty flat since they got the rights.
Change of F2A broadcaster [and the fact that broadcaster is now C4] probably hasn't helped the numbers.
    All4 is rubbish.
A large chunk of viewers are only tuning in to certain races and skipping the rest.

This might not go down well in an F1 enthusiast thread, but in the context of the viewer numbers, I stopped watching 15 years ago for the following reasons..

It's not a contest of racing skill anymore, IMO. It's more about where you get positioned on the track in qualifying and then just doing loads of boring laps and hoping you don't breakdown or your wheels fall off.
People are voting with their wallets, they're simply not interested enough to shell out.

I've stopped attending the British Grand Prix because of the ever increasing cost. I have been 9 times starting back in 2000, a 3 day general admission ticket was £100 (3 day Pit straights grandstand was only £160), add your camping and you're talking maybe another £20 + food and drink. There's a Tesco's 10 minutes down the road in Buckingham for all your essentials.

Currently a General Admission ticket is £179 and camping is £79, if you want a sheltered grandstand then you're talking anwhere between £279 -£425. If you take the cheaper GA route you'll also need to get into the circuit early, as gates open at 7am just to get a good spot on one of the few remaining spectator banks. Oh and bring your own chair and something to dig yourself into the side of the bank with.

Their pricing fans out, I wouldn't be suprised to see numbers viewing figures and gate numbers falling further. I haven't been since 2011, and I can't see myself going back anytime soon.

Cause they would lose a fortune is why they don't do it, Most people would take less than 15 channels

Them heads they are a bouncin' down the road.

In all seriousness I bet this is the same problem Dave Richards and the Prodrive mob had with Honda a decade ago (or Toyota with Mike Gascoyne, the Suzuki Moto GP team etc). European expert says one thing, is disregarded as outsider by Honda, Honda does whatever Honda feels likes, goes wrong, blames outsider for not being good at his job.

The Newey Aston is rather sexy. I remain ever hopeful that Mclaren will pull something out of its backside. However, based on the management of my pal who worked in the Applied Technologies bit I wouldn't hold my breath.

I'd love Massa to nick the WDC in his final year, with the added bonus of seeing Williams back on top.

I'd go so far to say that massa is in with a good shout of things this season. The cars are more like what he used to race, wide an physical. I don't think we have anyone else on the grid from before the narrowed the cars. Car looks good loads of mileage done for stroll to ruin end of the week.

Massa doesn't have the mental fight in him to wage a proper war with the likes of Hamilton, Vettel and Ricciardo imo... Too many seasons of playing the nice guy/no. 2.

And even on the raw, physical driving ability side of things, the Williams would have to be considerably faster than the Merc/Ferrari/RBR to counter the talent of the above drivers, who are well above Massa's current level.

And all of that is before we factor in Williams recent inability to develop a car over a season - or at all in the case of wet weather performance.
