I'd forgotten what a pain in the dick getting a gold Chocobo was. Still. Knights of the Round up is worth it.

New oven + new grill + Mark's best ever burgers (they **** thee not) = fire alarm. Whoops!

Very embarrassing and absolutely deafening :( I was nearly in tears. That's a seriously overwhelming noise for an autie.

Forgot I'd agreed to go to a party tonight. There goes my night of Fm19, programming/learning how to get wagtail to work how I want and getting used to ubuntu

You prioritised a party over all that? What kind of DevDoge are you?

Was more a social obligation than priority

Wonder if I could get out of this by taking down a server.

I set a new record recently, 30 minutes from the alarm going off to being sat down at my desk with a coffee.

15 minute morning routine, 15 minute commute. Normally it takes a touch longer on the roads but I got lucky with all the lights and junctions.

I get in, wet, soap, rinse, out. Any longer and I turn into a large fat prune.

So you don't ascribe to the 'Walking Dead Method,' of just rising out of the bed, hopefully getting clothes on and staggering out into the street then?

    Alarm goes off.
    Take watch off, wind it.
    Grab towel, go downstairs.
Brush teeth, pee at the same time (gross).
Finish peeing, turn shower on to preheat.
Finish brushing teeth, shower (wet, soap, rinse).
    Towel dry, head upstairs.
    Clothes, boots, motorcycle, contact lenses.
    Leave house.

Eh, if it takes me a while in the morning I don't really care. A little bit of self-care in the morning (no, not that kind, you're thinking of self-love) makes me feel a whole lot better about myself and starts the day off in the right way. I feel clean, I feel calm, I have fresh clean clothes, I've had time for breakfast, and on rare occasions I maybe even get time for a coffee. If you have a rushed morning and an angry/stressy commute in to work it sets your mood for the whole day; it's amazing how much difference it makes to your attitude and your mood when you start things off feeling good about yourself.

Taking care of yourself doesn't make your penis shrivel up and disappear* :thumb:.

*There you go, have that thought to start off your Sunday

Don't get me wrong, it takes me aaagggggeees... just not in the bathroom.

I take forever just sat in a monged state with a cuppa trying to convince my brain that I have to wake up.

Rather like me. Whilst the wife is ready to go as soon as she is out of bed, I need a while to warm up!

For me it's all about the commute, it can be done in 15 minutes of relaxed driving, or 45 minutes of putting up with the school run (this is the only time I ever see people using their phones while driving).

It also gives me time in the office when it's quiet, which is great when doing certain types of work.

Commute takes me almost exactly one hour by train. One of the reasons I keep buying books and bookshelves.

Well... I’m not going to work today

My son threw up... a lot. So much for telling myself that watery crap yesterday was teething..

Oh and my partner has a real intense phobia of vomiting... seeing, being around, the sound, the smell, the idea of someone doing it. Doing it herself sends her into blind panic

She’s now gone to work, I’m on my own.

This will not be a good day

    Edit: bit of a rant

My mother is on my case, apparently I’m not quite in tune with her 90s housewife view of the world. I have the opportunity to stay home from work so I do. I have a car if he was ill further or required some medicine. He’s my son... I love him and I want to make sure he’s okay, if I was at work I’d probably be worried so extremely unproductive.

Nope, it’s the woman’s place to stay home not the man. Your job is more important, you’re the breadwinner you should go to work and the Mrs should stay at home... look after him.

    Oh just **** right off

That mentality is a little too common with older folk..

Honestly, staying home and doing parent stuff sounds at least more fun than work, and I can't stand kids.

I got one of my nicknames at a call centre I worked at "zombie" . It takes me around two hours to become fully awake. That is why I started drinking coffee.

But yeah I don't do mornings. At all.
