Yep. Karl Urban also played "Bones" McCoy in the recent Trek movies & Judge Dredd in the non-Stallone JD movie "Dredd".

 

Would never have guessed he was a Kiwi from the roles I mentioned... but then where was LotR shot (mostly)...?

 

He was also in Xena. Xena (&BSG of course!) Lucy Lawless also being a kiwi.

What accent is he going for? Sounds like a kiwi who's lived in London for a while or vice-versa.

 

In LotR & Ragnarok, he 'sounded' UK English

By example: in Ragnarok, Korg sounded Kiwi - and is, going by his name (Taika Waititi).

Yeah Taika managed to make a walking rock not only sound kiwi but be 100% kiwi. It was glorious.

Still think in that clip Urban's accent is a bit all over the place

 

As Éomer & Skurge, Karl Urban sounds anything BUT Kiwi... making me think that he was English.

 

I can't remember tbh, it was just that clip i heard the twang especially on the "when they're apart" line re the Spice Girls.

Maybe it's from living there for a couple of years I hear it. In any case, i like him and it's a cool looking trailer.

 

The character he plays, in that trailer, sounds like a kiwi that moved to the UK at a young enough age, that he never lost the accent 100%.
