Just saying that some (many?) couples over 50 have less 'home-bound' lives than my wife & I do... I'm 54 & my wife is 15 yrs older than I am.

I ate Yorkshire puddings covered in maple syrup for breakfast (the real stuff, not that Aunt Jemima fluid the colonists would serve you with a greasy cake fried in a pan.). I must restrain myself or else I’ll eat the other half of the batch.

In today's episode of "Crappy's Eternal Hernia Saga": 2nd pain specialist appointment in 2 days, today's much more productive than yesterday's.

Yesterday was fairly bland, told him the amitryptiline wasn't working, having had a negligible affect on my pain. He wanted to up the dose from 10mg to 25mg, I said that seemed pointless to me as 2.5 x 0 = 0 amd as this has been dragging on for some time let's try kicking things up a notch or 2, so been prescribed Pregabalin (more commonly used for epilepsy and anxiety) instead. I'm guessing he picked up on my vibe of "you're a ****ing idiot and don't know what you're doing" so referred me to a senior colleague.

Appointment today was good. Had a very methodical approach, did a couple of physical tests, talked through everything with us in detail. He said my case was "interesting", using that word a number of times, of particular note him was my "absolute refusal to engage my abdominal muscles", which was not a conscious action on my part, I was just doing what he told me to as best I could while he inflicted excruciating pain. He thinks that as well as the nerve damage, there might be a problem with tendon(s) that connect your abdominal muscles to your leg muscles, but before doing anything further they're going to do an MRI and detailed ultrasound of the area to see exactly what's going on in there.

He's also advised that I should increase the dose of codeine back up to 30mg and that as well as taking the pregabalin prescribed yesterday, to continue taking the amitryptiline and increase that dosage also. He's going to talk everything through with the other doctor and make arrangements for the MRI and ultrasound. They're also going to have a look at the left hand side, as while the right hand side is where the major problems are, the left side isn't great. He's the first doctor in a while to actually pay attention to that, so feel like might get somewhere with this.

Will they find the problem? Will I finally get a cybernetic body? Stay tuned Crap-fans. Same Crap time. Same Crap channel.

After five years I've finally bought a tablet.

I've wanted one for ages now but wanted something quite big. That meant iPad pro and the prices are jokes. Ended up finding an 11.6" Android tablet with every bell and whistle for £170. It's not top spec, but it should do well being 10 core with 128gb storage and 4gb ram. It has a 1080p IPS screen so should be respectable enough.

Looking forward to some Wii emulation.

It was nice to have a break for a couple of hours .

Yeah that's an old habit... I don't remember which games, but I sometimes found that quick-load doesn't load the last auto-save and instead only loads the last quick-save; whereas if you let the game automatically load for you when you die, then it picks up the last save, whether it's a quick-save, auto-save, or full save... Therefore, f- it: just blow yourself up instead!

Plus this compact keyboard I have doesn't have dedicated F-keys and I instead need a Fn key combo...

You know you can get an actual Wii for not much more than a tenner, right?

Had an email from JustGiving earlier...

    Eh... what...? :jawdrop:

So I did check; it's legit, and it's from a very specific donor. (Telling you who that is would probably reveal information about me that I don't really like to blab across the internet. If you're really that interested then it won't take you long to look it up and work it out.)

That takes my donation total £802.09 against a target of £500. Absolutely blown away by that, it's absolutely incredible. Considering the very personal connection this charity has, I got proper emotional when I saw that email and looked up who it was from...

Finally got my phone screen repaired. Kit took three times as long as necessary to get here, considering it was just one state over.

This side of the pond Yorkshire puddings are covered in gravy or made large enough to be filled with a thick hearty soup.

The idea of anything sweet going near them makes my Yorkshire genes boil.

    Mmmmm Yorkies...

Native American here. I had to google for two hours to get a baseline understanding of Yorkshire puddings.

Yorkshire pudding and golden syrup. Don't knock it until you've tried it.

That's the beauty of them - good with savoury stuff, good with sweet stuff. God-tier.

I didn't know Yorkshire pudding was actually invented to sit below a rotary spit to catch all of the fat and meat juices.

Frybread isn't analogous to Yorkshire puddings, it's just superior. Fight me.
