Question for you watch people. I have an automatic Rotary, nothing fancy but it goes through straps very quickly. It has curved bars an I've been trying to work out if a nato strap would fit. Any thoughts?

Haven't posted about watch stuff for a while, but still just as keen!

I tried a Snowflake on a little while ago. It's beautiful. I'm aiming to go to Japan in two or three years' time (or maybe a bit longer) and acquire one.

I had one and it was OK. It doesn't make much of a statement and scratches easy.

I don't want a watch that makes a statement

Scratches easily? I'm surprised. Were you wearing it as a general purpose watch?

My current daily driver, gone back to a good old quartz for maximum convenience and accuracy:

Whilst I enjoy owning expensive, automatic watches, I'm terrified of wearing them out and about.

I love the SNA411 as you don't see many of them in this part of the world and it's a genuinely useful tool compared to the more traditional divers etc.

    Indeed, lol.

I've only fathomed the basics of all the measurements and calculations you can do with it, and let's be honest I'm rarely without a smartphone, but it's great to have something that has a busy face for a reason

I actually quite like it, reminiscent of the Navitimer.

My new daily, an Apple Watch Series 5 44mm with a Barton navy leather strap.

When I was in the US over Christmas decided I would give this smartwatch lark a go, as if it came to it I could always resell back in the UK and not lose a packet on it, and now I wouldn't be without it.

Which leaves the question of what on earth do I do with my array of other watches? :/

It's been a brief consideration to give them to someone, in exchange for funds, mind. But I'm not sure I can bring myself to it right now.

Perhaps in the future I may come around to it, especially if I can look at it like "keep these watches I don't wear, or do a bathroom up" or something like that.
Alternatively, perhaps in the future when smart contact lenses are a thing I can abandon smartwatches as start wearing these again.

Keep them for when your prescribed antipsychotics arrive and you return to your senses.

I appreciate what Grand Seiko do but the aesthetic has rarely appealed to me.

Right now I'm wearing a dive watch; my Speedy was randomly stopping so I took it into a Boutique for a warranty service, that was about three days before the lockdown so who knows where it is now?

I would recommend handling one physically - the craftsmanship has to be felt to be appreciated.

I don't think you're really supposed to wear these technical pieces tbh, just mount them in a display cabinet so your millionaire mates can feign interest at dinner parties.
