Sodium Hydroxide. Removes the anodising off the aluminium. It's so bright and almost white without an oxidised layer.

I'd rather we didn't match up the Guest-IDs I generate to old usernames. It sort of removes the point of them deleting their accounts.

I won't go into the specifics but it's not ;)

Aluminum is not as American as you might think.
The chemist credited with name aluminium, Mr H. Davy of Britan, initially proposed aluminum, but Mr T. Young also British, did not like the name a suggest aluminium. Both spellings were in common usage at first in Britain and the USA. In the USA the "um" ending gain popularity while the "ium" was favoured in Britain. Over the years there has been much debate and argument over the spelling. In 1990 the IUPAC stated that the element shall be "ium", but allows for brand and trade mark names to use "um", e.g. Reynolds Aluminum Foil is made from aluminium. The IUPAC relaxed its decision in 1993 and now acknowledges both spellings for the element.

As for the Americans spelling colour wrong that can be chalk up to Mr. Webster not knowing how to pronounce the word and thus writing it wrong within his dictionary as he attempted to modernise and clean up the English language.

Pretty much finished the Lawgiver. I need to finish/make a stand, and knock up a power feed that drops 12v to 5v, but the build itself is only a bit of paint away from finished.

Got my first pair of dentures after 10 years without teeth due to Marfan syndrome. I'm now eating my favorite thing-mixed nuts, which I have spent a decade without.

I'm doing pretty well. Just wish I hadn't seen the insurance bill. Way too much, but my insurance covered it all.

Started doing some schematic/PCB design earlier. Over 4 hours passed without me even noticing... It's been a long long time since I got so absorbed in something that I didn't notice the time passing.

It's not finished yet; it's a fairly simple design but I've buggered up the footprint for a microcontroller... And I hope to god that the footprint for the SCART socket is right, that was not fun to design by hand!!

It's not a BMX dude. It started life as a fixed gear. I just can't ride hunched over it (back problems). I prefer the cruiser style tbh.

You wire brushed them by hand?

Fair play to you if you did, I keep a wire wheel in one of my angle grinders at all times, I use it for a vast number of purposes I probably shouldn't :hehe:

    With some of this, yes.

    Next up is this.

To remove all of the rust, then I will hit the smaller bits with the Dremel wire brush.

It's pretty bloody awesome that I can sit on my arse for a couple of hours with a free piece of software and at the end of it have a PCB ordered. For £12, most of which is shipping costs.

Of course I'll have to wait ~2 weeks to see whether I screwed anything up, but if I have to re-spin the board it's not exactly going to cost me much to order a second revision.

    What software is that mate?

I’m yearning to get back to a electronics project, it’s been over five years since I graduated with a degree in electronics engineering and I’ve not done anything major since
