I've lately been playing with OpenRGB. It seems to control a lot of stuff from multiple manufacturers.

Yeah I watched a Jayz video last night for the first time in forever (he was actually sort of doing a build) and he was talking about something like that. Might try something out soon.

It’s a shame RGB stuff didn’t die in 2000-2010. It was tacky then, now.. Finding components that don’t have the dreaded adhd-look-at-me-while-I-give-you-an-epileptic-fit element has become a chore.

A chopped up tree to burn and an intact tree to decorate. This photo is a non-representive snapshot into what was otherwise a chaotic evening

Lovely to see your 'not so recent purchase', your wee lassie and all the family.
Have you breached the Guinness Zero yet?

It's about the only secure way to hold an unruly toddler. You can also pick your arm up so their hard rests on your shoulder and run them feet first through a doorway

1200 blocks, hand laid. It was harrowing at the time but ultimately worth the effort

Got me an oscilloscope! Agonised about this for waaaay too long, and in the end I decided to bag this deal from Amazon Warehouse (it was £140). For a little over double the money I could have gone for a Siglent or Rigol two-channel jobbie, and closer to £400 gets me into four-channel territory, but I figured that such an outlay is not necessary for my needs at the moment, so I'm happy to compromise with an older model that still packs plenty features and is likely of better quality than a Hantek.

Black Friday has been a bit cack tbh. I stacked up on Razer gear a while ago on Prime day, so there's nothing I really want. Given mum will probably spend this Christmas in hospital again I decided to get her present now. She has a 8" ATM but keeps banging on about my 11" tablet (I don't use it, but it's heavy and stock Android so we couldn't get her crap all working on it). So I got her a 10" Fire HD. The new one.

Lavender apparently. Looks pink to me.

I really did come close to pulling the trigger on a Hantek scope on ebay (DSO2D10), but I was reading a testimonial about a customer having to pay €50 to send it back to China and waiting 3 months for a refund... this didn't sit right with me, especially for something that costs £200+ and has a reputation for extremely buggy firmware. I mean, when it works it looks to be a brilliant scope, but also a bit of a gamble.

Mainly this. For the last few weeks I've been maintaining a list of things that I would buy anyway but there was no particular urgency. Some of the bits claimed to reduced, but nothing notable from what you would expect any other time of the year.

That said I did bite the bullet on these today for the desktop setup:

Corsair H60 packed up (pump faults common on this model it would seem) so I'm replacing it with something different. Have no need for RGB although this does have lights on the CPU block.

Wanted this for ages and ages. Dual 21700 mod. I have a single at the mo, so this will cut down on peeing around switching batteries so much.

And the most expensive pair of bars I have ever bought. NOS Standard Byke Co "Strip bars" 6 piece.
