Thinking about it, this is kind of ideal DLC/chapter territory. Release a full first-part (which they must be close to by now unless they've started down too many not-quite-finished fundamental physics etc. bunny holes) and commit to iterate or add content as we go. Also avoids flak often directed at studios for "not releasing all the content at first and charging us for it afterwards even though it was already built" - assuming they're honest about that, of course. And release it for free since it's funded feature-creep.

"Here you go - be getting on with this whilst we finish up the rest. We'll get it out to you incrementally."

That said, I'm sure this will have been raised internally already.

Squadron 42 has been designed to be delivered in 3 "episodes" since the 2012 Kickstarter campaign.
Maybe next year, or the year after, or...

I hadn't actually seen this one yet, but it seems very much like SC will have been beaten to the punch if everyone commits their time to Starfield instead (H1 '23 release, apparently - and on Game Pass). It does look more story-driven though, so maybe it's more of a finite experience (Mass-Crafting Effect?).

Talk of Star Citizen getting beaten to the punch reminds me of this

If Starfield is 8/10+ it is going to climb 3 stories, drop its trousers and take the biggest dump over Chris Robert's vision.

It doesn't make me happy saying that. So many including me got "sold down the river" to use a culturally appropriated slavery analogy that is probably offensive to some/many, but meh.

Anytime who continues to pour money into this Ponzi scheme needs their head examined.

First bounty mission, had to land on a planet and investigate some crash site, major success!

Suddenly died, and didn't know why until zooming out...

All in all, had a great time, 10/10 will invest more monies.

Had an absolute blast, didn’t run into many game breaking bugs, nor did I join in with the big siege which is on a loop. The racing was certainly fun and entertaining, did a couple contracts consisting of deliveries and contracts on npcs which was good. Roll on 3.18!

I'm in the process of downloading it, on my super slow connection (1.2MBps, Oh how I miss the speeds in my profile pic!) its taking 5eva! And the launcher keeps crashing, so I can't just leave it to run -_-

It is the windows launcher, we just run it in WINE.
It's not worth them making the promised Linux client yet.
Been getting 55-60fps walking around Microtech spaceport
