I did not plan to make any further updates in this worklog but it seems American Airlines succeeded with what most contractors failed with 4 years ago - to kill the Y2k-bug...

So this is how the bug looked like when it was taken out of it's sturdy flight case:

Damages from left to right: The balsa section around the CDRW / under the servos is crushed. The aluminium over the CDRW is bent. The northbridge block got one screw snapped. The pumphouse has been unscrewed and all the screwmonts on the pump are ripped off. The rear panel has been torn away from the PSU that it was screwed to.

GFx block torn off as well, the left stack of USB ports are bent upwards, no other damages seen on the mobo or GFx card. The PSU got relocated by snapping of some heavy duty zip ties and the two screwholes at the back of it has been cleaned from any thread.

The three legs closest to the camera are off, the epoxy insde the plastic tubes has cracked. Anyone got any clever idea how to fix? I might try and drill into the crack and fill with epoxy.

Carbon fibre is supposed to be strong but apaprently it wasnt strong enough this time...

The HDD, CDRW and the PSU has been tested ok. The faith of the mobo and GFx is unknown, luckily enough the bug was upside down when the reservoir decided to leave the pump. More updates to follow when this case is rebuilt from the bottom and upwards.

PS, If you can't see the images it is because one of the two servers are down for maintenance and the admin forgot to repoint the DNS... DS.

Thats well out of order. I hope that you'll at least get some compensation for it.

It's horrible to see someones hard work destroyed by someone elses incompetence.

Damn! What bullsh*t! I can't believe how damaged it is!!! :miffed:

Whenever you're on a plane, look out the window and you'll see them just tossing bags and packages around. I once saw a box with FRAGILE written all over it in huge red letters, but the guys were just throwing it onto the conveyor belt!

I hope you have a good lawyer, this is the kinda thing you can make a lot of money from. :miffed:

Holy **** man, I'm so sorry to see that. You must be far more upset than your post lets on. I know I wouldn't have left the airport without ripping into a few managers.

    :jawdrop: :grr: :grr:

BTW, lets see a pic of the shipping case. Am I right that its completely undamaged? Meaning that somebody opened up the case and ripped the computer apart?
