haha, yeah even though i'd already downloaded it and they filmed it on Tuesday, i still feel completely responsible for it being in there, cos i opened my big mouth.

If its something decent i'll chip in, but when i see the stuff people send in im always torn between whether i think things like booze, sweets etc are pointless or better than something like a statue or a poster.

Org based items seems like a 'we made one extra to send to you' or we're so important this should mean something to you. Thats cool with something like a patch where you can make tons for cheap, when its statues/awards it seems a bit odd in a way.
Booze etc feels more like a thank you gift, something for them to enjoy unlike an award, but then once its gone its kinda forgotten.
I dunno, im sure they appreciate everything, whether its simply the thought & effort, the fact that its from their fanbase and possibly a memento of this whole process, but then given all the items sent, some stuff will be kept but the inevitable is most will be binned (isnt everything?) but at least it'll act as a reminder till then, compared to perishables.

I also think while gifts are nice, the vast majority have the gift of employment, working on something they enjoy, without a publisher meddling and possibly pulling the plug, and contributing to the funding allows more people to work on the project and for longer. Its a bit like they said on WMH last night, its something they enjoy doing and not like they need holidays more than anyone else would.

Going to get this when paid, i already purchased Watchdogs and cannot justify another game so soon (same month anyway)

Are the cheaper ships going to be good enough and will i need insurance?

    Cheers

Afaik insurance isn't an option, other than the silly multi-ship packs. Nowt wrong with the little ships.

Yeah, the little ships will be perfectly capable of enjoying the game.
Theres a couple of ways of looking at it though, theres being able to start from the bottom and work your way up, and theres also the option of joining an Org like BitSec and plenty of the members will be open to letting the org use their ships, so while you might not own a Hornet, someone who does can let you fly theres when doing group missions, and everyone benefits rather than having a great ship sitting in the hangar and someone bringing an Aurora as escort when a Hornet would be better etc.
Plenty of people will also own multi-crew ships, Freelancers & Constellations, and having people on the turrets rather than hiring NPCs to do the job is more fun and most likely more capable.

Being able to join friends on their ships was the sole reason i got excited about this game, dont care for space stuff at all, and im completely hooked now, and its cost a small fortune in the process :D

oh and Insurance, i hadnt actually thought about it but as Jester says, i dont recall hearing them say anything to suggest hull insurance is optional, i'd always assumed it was and utterly idiotic not to have it too :D
It wont be expensive, its like another tax really.

Also, im not entirely sure, but the '1 month free insurance' what i dont know is whether that IRL or 1mo in-game. I'd have to assume its in-game, because the 2 timelines wont be the same (they did say recently something like a day passes every 2hrs or 4/6hrs something like that). But the reality is its going to be a small amount anyway, and an in-game expense, rather than a cash expense.

Between SC news hope its ok to drop other interesting bits?

Take a look at the wonderful art and sense of drama in alien isolation, it looks really polished and lush sharp retro 70s.

I think its just a demo run through but it looks super.

Sorry if this has been asked already, but almost 2500 posts to look through...

If I purchase another single ship, not a package, do I get insurance based on my first single ship package or do I need to buy more single ship packages to get the insurance for it?

    Tnx. :D

You'll get 6 months I think on a single ship package, associated with the ship. Therefore each package has its own insurance.

I cant stand stuff like that, im not big on scary stuff, but its not scary stuff its just loud noises amid silence. Listening to music on headphones and getting a tap on the shoulder, its not scary, its just unexpected, and tbh i dont watch horror films because it just feels so manipulative rather than scary. The bit around 2min where they all jump, being the perfect example of that.

Now, being in an abandoned space ship, with a tracker, and knowing they're coming... that i can get behind, but when they have to use artificial setups to make you tense and on-edge, its rather lame IMO.

Its the manipulation to artificially create fear i dont like. But that aside, it looked very nice and atmospheric, and i'd be well impressed if SC had abandoned ships or stations/bases done as well as this (and i suspect they will) where you can see terrible things happened in here, could still be there, and you're todays special on the menu.

Easily. It'll get you started in the game with your own ship to trade and do missions, which you can then grow in to a larger ship. You can also crew on other BitSec members's ships and maybe even borrow!
