... I think we need to be thinking of things at the more satisfying edge of human invention.

    How about

My hi fi. The only way I could tolerate life without it is if I'd bought a better one (which I'm planning on doing).

I definately cannot be productive without dual monitors any more. Solidworks and multitasking in general just sucks when using only one monitor. Also, broadband access and my iPhone. Not just any phone will do any more, it has to be an iPhone for me. And a computer. It amazes me how much I rely on having a computer around all the time... so much so that my laptop comes everywhere with me nowadays. I also can't live or survive without music, so my iPod goes right up on that list as well.

Dual monitors, my mobile phone, broadband access.

In all honesty I could possibly drop to one again, but I definately require my phone and broadband, who doesn't these days?

AIR!! I almost drowned when I was about 8, it's at that point that I discovered how vital air was to my future survival.

I'm gonna have to go ahead and add liquid cooling to this. Some of the overclocks I've achieved in my time would have been impossible to keep stable on air, and there was a time when liquid cooling was only for the sake of noise. That's obviously not the case any more. Also getting added to my list are my tools. Yeah, they were luxuries back when this was just a hobby for me, now I can't work without them.

A fountain pen - ballpoints are the devil and roller balls are just passable.

I mainly write in ink as well, Pilot .5 rollerballs though, not fountain. I find they are fine. I use a fountain pen occasionally, but couldn't be bothered with them all the time.

I really want to make the switch to fountain, but every time I try I end up with ink covering my fingers. I write with my fingertips almost on the nib. Pentel .5 rollerballs for the forseeable future. Sucks paying £2-2.50 a pen, but I won't use crap.

Multiple monitors - sucks like hell having to go from a 17-19-17 setup to a 9" netbook screen. But while I'm back in with my parents, it means I have access to their lovely 36" LG HD tv, so I've finally got my Mac back up and running, so I have Spaces running, so that goes from 1080 px wide to 4320 px wide - win in my book!

iPhone - cant live without this thing any more - my constant companion, work mobile, mobile internet device, and allround awesomesauce gadget.

Double bed - seriously. When I first moved out of my parents house, I had a double bed, and it was so awesome to have so much more wriggle room - I loved it! So yeah, much like multi-monitor setups, I cant go back...

Energy drinks of some description - I think most people here can connect with this on some level. I've gone through night shifts, 24 hour Modding Le-Mans sessions, all-nighters out on the tiles and work the next day, none of this would be possible without the aid of caffiene, and other natural stimulants commonly found in energy drinks.

And I think thats about it...

Yeah... it sucked when air was a luxury, now it's freely available it makes that whole survival malarky much easier!
I haven't beaten Mankz when I say this now have I? ... porn!
No, on a serious note, for me it's probably my computer, inc. broadband.
Now that computers in general aren't exactly a luxury for most, it keeps me in a job!

My macbook+ipod touch are still luxuries to me, but i'd really hate to not have them after enjoying the use of them for a while now.

Wow, a lot of people can't live without dual monitors eh?

I've never really got used to them, I'd much rather have one big monitor than 2 smaller ones. My Dell 2408WFP is just the right size for me. :D

    And Tripple monitors.
