I am on a budget of £135, and I really don't want to exceed it. Can anyone provide me a recommendation on a board that is good for moderate overclocking within this price range?
well you have: 1. ASROCK Z77 extreme 6 @ £135 Review: ASROCK 2. Asus P8Z77-V @ £135 Review: Asus 3.Gigabyte Z77X-UD4H @ £141 Review : Gigabyte They are all excellent motherboards you wont go with any of them. It all depends which manufacturer you are comfortable with
I can personally vouch for the Asus P8Z77-V. I've used it on a couple of builds and found it great for the money.
heres the review from techradar, overclocking isnt as good as the ones listed so pay a little bit more and get something which when needed will deliver Review: MSI
Well worth it if, like 90% of gamers, you don't need the extra PCI slots. In that category there's also the Gigabyte G1 Sniper M3, which gets a lot of praise and is £118 on Scan.
You could save a lot more and go for the Asus P8Z77-V LX (NOT the LX2) I couldn't find a direct comparison between the Asus P8Z77-V, Asus P8Z77-V LX and the Maximus Gene V though. Shame
My £80 Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H does 4.5GHz without any sign of struggle (I am thermally limited at this point). I don't know your definition of a moderate overclock but I think you could get away with this one. Also comes with a 3-year warranty as opposed to 2 years on Asus boards.
