    The original problem turned out to be a loose PCI-E power connection on the GTX480! So the 680i was looking at the 8800GT in a secondary slot as the primary VGA adapter. Which since a later BIOS revision from EVGA deemed not to be an acceptable practise and this is the reason I was getting a code 5d. As far as GPU temperatures go, both the GTX 480 and 8800GT are around the 40 degree mark when playing Mafia 2 at the moment. Quite eager to try the two Batman games to see how this system fares now!

    Can't beleive your temps, my 470 and 8800 would be at 60 and 40 respectively though I also had a toasty CPU in the loop.

    Perhaps I really do need to update it, bought it all years ago when I moved to 6800 sli and couldn't fit my PCI cards in, its functional I suppose.

    I have a ton of liquid in my loop. I'm waiting on some UV Green Dye to show off just how ridiculous it is. Totally over the top but that's just the way I like it. If I were to do a serious cooling setup on modern tech then I would get much tidier. As it is, this has been a learning experience! :thumb:

    Just for reference I have two thick 240 radiators one is cooled by dual Phobya Nano-2G 120mm fans and the other is cooled by dual Delta FFB1212EHE all fuelled by a Phobya 250 reservoir. At a conservative estimate I'd say I need to fill this three times over to fully flood the loop, if not more!

    With my Deltas turned off and the GTX 480 undervolted to 938mV on stock core at 700MHz, it's hovering around 46 degrees after 5 minutes. Not played with a multi-GPU stress test to also place the 8800GT under load at the same time but 46 on the GTX 480 is really really good! Deltas turned on full blast after 5 minutes in to FurMark and the temperatures nose dive to 42 degrees and stabilise. I'm testing with FurMark v1.8.2 at the moment. The most recent version can apply mental stress to a GPU. Can try out another version with specific conditions if you wanted a fair comparison?
