i really needed to get on with finsihing off the rest of the lighting for HPR3...as will all the lighting so far its been double the effort...for every blue LED i install i have to install a red one as well... all up so far a whopping 20 RED and Blue LED's go to make HPR3's internal lighting.

Power is added to the front CDrom and HDD cage.

a molex is depinned, a hole cut and fitted back into the unit..this will supply power for the front of the case.











The original idea was to add some old intel slot type heatsinks to the side of the HDD to help cool.... i scrapped this idea and went with a cutom drilled
plex bracket mod instead.


2 peices of polished cut to size 10mmthick strips of plex are drilled.

Then re-drilled to add a stepped type counter sunk channel to both the brackets.








This allows the HDD screws to fit all the way down the tunnels.

These will act as "risers" and lift the HDD above the clear 80mm fan that will be mounted in the bottem of the box.

 

Holes are drilled and counter sunk for the 80mm exhaust fan. Again steinless steel HEX head bolts are used.









The set of RED/BLUE Leds are installed and wiring completed for power.





The 4 LEDs installed are to supply Light to the Lower Fan box, Small holes are drilled and the LDS poke thru the base of the HDD box shining down onto the Fan Box.





Looking UP @ the unit you can see how the lights will shine down.


This shot shows both blue and red LEDs running @ once.

PSU Sleeving


the original plan was not to cover the wires from the psu at all, the idea was to paint them a very light dusty silver..playing with the frosting technique i discovered that this could also be applied to "clear rubber hose"!

The only problem was i didn't have an atx depining tool!...i should! but i don't

an easy way around this was to splice the clear hose and then recover it using Clear heat shrink! which i had plenty of

A side bonus is that this way adds another cover that also adds to hide the wires and add to the fronst effect.







just like with the frosted plex tubes!

slip some clear heatshreink over then slide the tube under and add heat.









with a bit of reheating you can get a very good degree of "bendability"






do the same with the other tubes to match.

Noice work mate, what are the 'blocks' you are using that have LEDs in (look towards the begining of the thread)?

I have started using clear RJ45 connectors to hold leds, if you remove the contact pins from it then it looks Uber . I love the frosted plate on the back, gives a brill ilumincance, excellent insparation for my mod

What you want for a PSU like that? I mean... this is great!
I have this one and it's nice... but it's kinda noisy when pushed to the limit.
However I manage to do so with an Athlon 2600+ and a GeForce 6600GT.

 

just an idea dude, did you concider cable sleeving the powersupply cables before u shrink wrapped them, just an idea, like, dont u wanna reduce the sight of little cables?

 

You mean like sleeve the cables, put it in the tubes, then heat shrink them?
Hm, I don't know if it was worth it. But in fact it would give you the possibility of totally hide those 'too' colorful wires.
Maybe someone should do something like this to let us see how it would look.

 

i agree with the two above posts, it would look really sexy if the cables were sleeved and THEN tubed bit like the expensive ultra psu's
