There's an X1800XT, if you can find one. Other than that you can just buy a 7900GT, if they die, they die in a couple of days. :)

I know the x1800xt would be the chosen if I were to buy an ATI, but it seems to me that the 7900GT is faster. Anyway I can be wrong, as I haven't seen any review with the two of them side by side, any thoughts?

I just don't want to buy the 7900gt if nvidia doesn't do anything to solve this. Even if the ram sink trick works, I don't like having to do that if I buy one.

You only have to do that if you're OC'ing it really, mine was fine for ages without one, and that was with a pretty decent OC (678C, ~800M).
If they're going to die, they do it in a couple of days, so you'll be able to RMA it straight away without problems. All the shops and manufacturers are ready for it now, they know the issues with the 7900GT's. :)

Two things seems to be possible now...

    - I buy the 7900GT, everything will be ok if it doesn't die after a few gaming days (Everything?? really, in good health for the rest of its live if I don't OC it?? *me worried)

    - Someone convices me about buying the x1800xt, telling me it equals or surpases the nvidia

I really hope nvidia does something with this. Even if shops are ready if you want to RMA it, as kirkkit says, it's a pain...

After reading a lot I think I'll be buying a 7900GT, but those low prices I have seen for the X1900XT are tempting me... the diference in price between them is reduced by 1/5 for me as I pay with Euros and I'll be buying from TigerDirect

Well i am also a victim of the 7900gt plague :(
my eVGA 7900gt ko started to show problems in battlefield 2. I tested it in 3dmark and it freaked out. I ran sinks from day one...

if you get the X1900XT you won't be dissappointed i traded up my 7900gtx (artifacting) for the X1900XT while the frame rates are a little slower it still provides much better graphical detail.

example i run fear at 1680x1050 with everything maxed out except for softshadows and detailed icons (or whatever it's called) and the frame rates don't dip below 29fps :D

A x1900XT would be great, but I'm still very interested in the 7900GT. I'll probably end up spending less money when buying everything, and the 7900GT is perfect for that.

The problems with this card have gone too far, nVidia should do something!!
