LOL, while I fully support this idea, who's going to pay for it? :p

I got the piece to fix my overheating problem. It's amazing a piece so small can cause so many problems.

Indeed you are correct. When I took the A64 Lucite top off my TDX to replace it with a S775 top, the black neoprene seal on top of the nozzle was destroyed. I figured it wasn't very important so I didn't bother with it. Turns out I was wrong. Now I get to have fun times replacing it.

For those of you who are curious, this is where it goes. It forces the water to pass through the tiny fins on the block. Important I guess :p

Well. This sucks. I had a leak in my water cooling that I didn't notice for several days.

yup. My first leak ever in over 4 years of using water cooling. I use two cards for triple monitor sweetness. Well, one of my clamps apparently wasn't tight enough and water dripped onto the x1800xt, then onto the hd3870. The system didn't start acting screwy until the 3870 was soaked. Then after that it took me a day and a half to realize the coolant was leaking. By that time, the x1800xt was completely dead and my hd3870 was artifacting.

Well today after work is when I noticed the leak, so i set about fixing it. I tightened a clamp and used a blow dryer to dry off the two cards. I even took the water block off the HD3870 to dry under the block because the card was soaked (the x1800xt wasn't as wet, not under the block anyway).

Unfortunately, the system no longer even recognizes the x1800xt and the 3870 is artifacting while booting, then causes constant VPU crashes once it gets into windows. Coupled with random lock ups and power downs, I think its safe to say both cards are FUBAR.

Tis a sad day in legoman666 history. That x1800xt has served me well over the years and my newer HD3870 was great also.

    :(

The decoder chip on the x1800xt. I need to take a closer look, but it looks like its completely fried.

yea :( And the sad thing is, I'm more exasperated that I'm going to have to drain the water loop and take the video cards out than I am about having to buy new cards. I can get a used x1800xt/1900/1950 (so i can use the same waterblock) for ~$90 and 3870's are $70 cheaper now than when I bought mine.

The x1800xt is out of warranty, but I sent Diamond an email about the 3870. We'll see what happens.

Damn man... Sorry to hear about it... What liquid do you use? Tap-water or?
But look at it from the positive side... Sell the waterblock for the x1800xt, and buy an extra 3870 block... And go crossfire with 2 of those! ;)
Remember that things happens for a reason, and I think the God of W/C is telling you to upgrade!
