Case Mod - In Progress Slaymate's Saga: Case is Finished

Sorry Bill, i obviously hit a nerve there

 

Well I'm finally running again. I got everything assembled, and my Vista64 kept BSODing. Windows 7 and XP64 worked without a hitch. I don't know what went wrong with it, I hooked up everything to the same places I unhooked them from, exactly. So I had to reinstall Vista64 and that screwed up my dual-boot with Windows 7 so I had to reinstall it also. But now I just have to pick a boot drive from the bios and I can load any OS and if a drive goes down that's all I've lost.

Other then that, that came out really nice

 

I like it. It's nice and roomy. I really like the HDD cage/mounting system. I ended up removing the card support bar because my video power connectors were jambed up against it in both mounting locations.

I finally figured out why my system was acting screwy. One of the fans on the lower video card was touching the pwr/reset/hdd led/pwr led connectors just enough to keep the card from fully seating. The card plugged in and "clicked", but there was just enough pressure on it to cause problems.

That 3DMark score is definitely impressive... so is the number of fans.
When you say it's surprisingly quiet, do you mean taking into account the number of fans or just quiet?

Both, it's surprisingly quiet even with 19 fans. The one fan I can distinguish thou is the 120x38mm fan I have on the True Copper, but it's not as loud as the (2) Silverstone 120 x 25mm fans I tried 1st.

 

Is it just me or does the graphics cards seems to be bending down towards the back a wee bit.
Its mostly the top one but it may just be the angle its taken at and my eyes being confused.
Very nice case and system though and very impressive with it being quite considering just the number of fans.

yeah .. i noticed it too .. the 2 vgas are bent .. i think its a wee bit too heavy ... I like the copper TRUE though .. I'm a big TRUE fan ... but i'm planning on changing to a wc setup soon ... saving money.. slowly .. I quit smoking ... drinking ... and breakfast ... the money that I would have spent on them .. I put it in a locked box .... I have $300 so far

The A70 is a reflection of Lian Li's earlier case designs I fell in love with. The panels are light, but very rigid. Their factory has superior stamping machines rivaled by nobody else..

Lian Li's more recent v-series cases, I'm not a fan of, they use thinner aluminum, pop rivets are used to fasten together a majority of pieces to save costs, and the anodized finish chips easily.

The fan in the power supply started making a noise so I've got a new 140mm fan to replace it. The power supply is a little more than a year old so I'm a little surprised the fan is going out already. I also bought a couple 60mm fans to cool the mosfet heatsink. I'll paint them tomorrow. And I've got enough black Lian-Li thumbscrews to replace all the silver ones. Expect a few new pictures in the next few days

Edit: Been playing around with my overclock. It's running solid at 4 GHz with HT turned off. It jumped my 3DMark Vantage score up to a 26090

Very sweet mod, I dunno how I missed it lol.

I love the custom paint work, it is very nice, I would have gotten Bill to get Brad to do the interior while he was at it but it still looks awesome.

I am glad you went with the TRUE over the crappy CMV10, the True is much cheaper and still beats teh V10, and it doesn't have a pletier hahaha.

Very nice OC mate, I have just started fiddling around with overclocking. Got my Q6600 to 3.2Ghz no sweat, now that I have done my 8800GTX I am going to push for 3.6GHz and then do my RAM.

Once again, very nice rig, one of a kind .
