Just out of interest, because the tubing will be so tight to fit, will you be using anti-kink coils at all? (I figured you might not include them in the sketch because they'd be so hard to render), and what colour will the (coils,) cathodes and coolant be?

Cathodes will be purple and UV (a set of each). I am going to use pink Feser One coolant and blue XSPC Helixcoils anti-kink coils with clear Tygon 3/8 ID 1/2 OD tubing. I've seen pics of this, it looks awesome! [IMG]

Why the purple? You'd be better off with all UV, imo.

Do you think? Would they be bright enough? The UV cathodes i have in Bloo Box are terrible and dont cast alot of light. What are the best makes of UV cathodes?

Do you think purple or UV leds would look best in the cubes in the corners? I was planning to do purple since i can get brighter ones.

Go purple in the corners, but UV for the rest.

But it does! At the bottom of each post, on the left, is a row of 3 icons. A (grey) dot, a little man holding a baguette (or something?!), and a yellow triangle. The middle one adds rep. Still don't understand what french bread has to do with that though!

May the Relix be with you!

:O Wow, awesome! Didn't know that, thanks!

THanks stuart, that is what i am starting to think now.

    Update #7

So i have been talking to radodrill at OCN about fan controllers. He showed me what he did for his Rad GT. So i have designed my own fan controller. It will only be 2 channel, unlike his insane 8 channel one. His was done on a soldering board (one with loads of pre drilled holes). I'm lucky enough to have access to PCB printing facilities at school so i will be making the PCB myself :wheee:

PCB design (to scale). On the right of the big electrolytic capacitors you can see 3 pads. This is where the potentiometers will be attached. Middle-left you can see 2 pads where +12v and negative connects. At the top right of each section you can see a box with 2 pads in, this is where the fans connect.

    Real-world drawing of it

The circuit design (this was NOT done by me! This was made by radodrill!)

My layout was done in PCB Wizard 3.50. Great little program!

Wow, nice one there! I'm glad you're planning on making your own fan controller, especially as there probably wouldn't be much room for a 5.25" or even a 3.5" bay controller in your build.

Yeh definitely not room for a normal fan controller :) Someone pointed out i do not need the second decoupling capacitor, so i can make the pcb even smaller :)

Hahaha :p I would build it now, but i need to finish the CAD work first. I also need monehs to buy things. List of things i need before i can make the shell:

    PSU
    Slimline Drive
    Materials (obviously)
    Potentiometers for the fan controller
    Case feet and fan grill

Last 2 are on their way from Bill (yay). Need moneys before i can get the rest.

If you look at the 4th update, there is a price list. THe only thing that is incorrect now is the PSU, and the feet and grill costs havnt been added to the final list.

    Hi Man,

Loving the mod and looks like a nice build so far.

(Thought i had already asked this) Was wondering what power rating the 1U Seasonic has and do you have any idea how loud/quiet the bugger is.

My experience with 1U PSUs is that theyre quite noisey

I just ordered the power supply :) £45 off ebay including shipping, very good deal! I havn't actually got a seasonic, i have an unbranded one which is designed to fit in a shuttle. I thoroughly read the spec sheet, and it says do not exceed 250W constant load, meaning it is good up to 250W, then only burst above that.

The PSU may be noisy, but i can always swap the fan for something else.
