Progress has been slow lately, due to too much work ...

Anyway, Ac just launched a full chipset cooler for the my mobo.

    http://shop.aquacomputer.de/product_info.php?products_id=2408

    I have just ordered :D

Hopefully, I can do a real update when this block arrives (some delivery time though), including some lightning and cable management!

I am also seriously considering a GPU upgrade, but nothing decided yet (maybe a GPU card producer reading this would consider this rig worthy an ATI 5970?)

    Stay tuned!

Really nice block! That was cool the way they just drilled a hole for a capacitor that was in the way. :D

Now I HAVE to go back to work to start making some more scoots. UI doesn't pay me enough to buy any play toys. ;)

New watercooling part soon on their way.

The bad new is that there is some delivery time ...

The good news is that Aquacomputer has decided to sponsor me a little bit, got a nice rebate on my last order! Thanks!

    WOW my first sponsor

Now I just has to find out how to finance a ATI 5970 (ordered the waterblock for it). Any more sponsors out there?

Grats on the sponsorship :) It was only fair as you represent 2% of their annual turnover ;-)

Christmas is coming up and watercooling-santa knows you have been good this year - maybe a 5970 is coming your way (masked as "important work related tool").

The rig is (another) beauty - and we have learned to expect nothing less from you :)

Hope you find time to come down south again soon - a beer is waiting...

Thanks, and it will be even better soon ...

To much hardware .. thats a fact. Must sell my 4890s soon ....

You never know ... Santa has gotten a list ...

Thanks. What about a bear or two next Thursday? :D

Work is very busy for the time being, and I don't know when the hardware updates will arrive ...

In the mean time I am busy making the new power-connect and some lighting arrangements.

I have also gotten some ideas I have to carefully think about. I might do some small changes to the water loop in order to reduce restrictions and to reduce tubing length, all to be done when installing the chip set block.

    Stay tuned!

Now I am only waiting on my 5970, then things will happen.

In the meantime, have a look on the new goodies ...

I know this is asking a lot, but how about taking the top off and showing us what's inside?

Realizing that my 5970 might not arrive until next year, and the fact that I had a couple of ours for my self after the little buggers had fallen asleep ... i decided to mount the chip set block, and also change the water loop slightly.

So said - so done! The change in the water-loop, was that instead of routing the single and dual-rad in before the GPUs, they are now immediate after. This allowed me to remove quit a bit of tubing ...

I also started on the cable management :D

The effect of both the chip set block and the "new" water-loop was an increase in water flow from 108 to 115 L/h, or roughly a 5% increase in flow. The water temp over the GPUs increased with 1 degree, so also the GPU temp.

The temperatures of the mobo, NB and SB, all dropped with 10 degrees Celsius. Absolutely fantastic

    And here some pictures ...

    the new and optimized loop

and the same loop in UV

    Lovely :)

The chipset block is a beauty!
Can't wait for the result after the 5970 arrives.

The 5970 is no where close, so it was time for these two babies ...

Actually, theese old 3870 water blocks gave me an idea ... of modding the 5970 cooler. Plexi and UV light ...

Bought some plexi day before x-mas, time will show what it turn out like. Stay tuned ...

Yes it was! The chipset cooler is definitely AC well engineered and from what I can see it is fairly high flow like the original Twinplex blocks. Glad I am out looking for a job next week, I need some major scoots for my AC order.

Happy New Year from California! Today it has been in the low 70's Fahrenheit and clear blue skies. The Rose Parade is expected to have the same great California weather. :D

    Thanks Beaver and TopNurse!

progress is slow, since I am quite busy at work, and due to the fact that I am still waiting for the GPU to arrive ...

Still working on lightning and cable management, hope to show you some really nice pictures when it all comes together, but I am afraid this will delay until February ... as the GPU isnt anywhere before that time ... and I dont want to take the rig apart more than necessary.

Seems like I have been able to work my way to an earlier than expected delivery of a 5970! I should arrive tomorrow ...

I am also having second thoughts of modding the water block with plexi and UV. Two reasons for this. 1) the interior of the water block i rather plain and not very interesting. 2) It will be facing downwards and be quite hidden, so not really worth it?

What do you think, plexi or not?

I might make it anyway, just the fun of it ...

Lighting and wirering is still in progress, hopefully finnish over the weekend?
