Hi guys should my mate buy this http://www.scan.co.uk/products/2gb-...z-gddr5-gpu-890mhz-1536-cores-dvi-displayport or just save up more for a gtx 580....he plays all the call of duty's..moh...crysis etc.....its just for gaming thanks take care all
Personally I would go for this: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1280...-732mhz-shader-1464mhz-480-cores-dl-dvi-mhdmi Although it depends on what res he will be playing whether to get the 580.
Thanks mate but he doesn't want one with a standard cooler, the res he plays at is 1,920x1,080 thanks
Maybe this one then... http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1280...ddr5-gpu-742mhz-480-cores-2x-dl-dvi-i-dp-hdmi Would run everything at max at the moment at that res.
Well he has the same 27" screen as me and that is the max res (1,920x1,080)...either way he wants to play all his games at max settings inc crysis
Well he only plays all the call of duty's moh's and crysis...oh and he just bought SBK 2011 and flight sim x gold edition.....so its out of the 6970 (directcu II model)....or...the gtx 570 (directcu II) cheers pete
If hes after a 6970 just get a 6950 and flash it. 1920x1080 is the standard nowadays most if not all GPU's pricing at about £150 will play all the games you mentioned fine.
Cheers nathan he aint got a clue about flashing the bios on the 6950 (or me lol) so i think he just wants a bog standard card
haha ok am currently using a 4870 which is pretty old n I can play all of those games obviously not with too high FPS but the 4870 is proper old nowadays. Heres a guide just incase you do get a 6950 looks pretty simple tbh
AMD have cottoned on to the fact that many people are doing this and all new 6950s cannot be flashed. If you're buying a 6950 with the intention of flashing it, I wouldn't, because the chances of getting one of these older, flashable cards are very slim. Sorry to put a dampener on that idea
Cheers nathan and manic so is the 6970 a much better card than the gtx 570 (bang for buck)...he will be ordering tomorrow from scan thanks take care
I always use the bit tech reviews to see which is better http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphics/2010/12/15/ati-radeon-hd-6970-review/1
No. They are almost exactly the same, it depends on what games you play. I've owned both. Since you are ordering tomorrow, you had better go with the GTX 570 since the 6970 Direct CU isn't even in stock (with no ETA). Its a great card, you'll love it.
