Linux Minecraft; Official Bit-tech server

Probably a safe precaution; I'm not interested in PvP.

 

I dont think it will be an issue but...

Maybe Add town support so people can protect their areas/belonging?

Also from experience I advise we block the use of Anchor Blocks or Teleport tethers as we will have server crash any time somebodies quarry over flows?

(Or just prepare to use a nice admin command to remove floating blocks)

 

I've never managed to make either of those work anyway...

 

So the current required config for tekkit is as follows:

Dynmap plugin
HawkEye plugin
Towny/Residence plugin (I found Residence to be a pain in the ass)
ChopTree
ComputerCraft enabled
Nukes, Anchors & Teleport Tethers blocked

Let me know if anyone has any other suggestions/requirements.

Once this is all set up, I think starting a new thread might be a good idea...

Tekkit has been installed, but to get everything set up properly it looks like I'm going to have to get a permissions plugin set up and configured... This stuff made my head hurt last time round...!

Tekkit server is now up. All those who have PM'ed me their minecraft username(s) have been added to the whitelist. I'll be available by PM here this evening (for another hour or so), but I won't be in game.

I will set up a new thread for the server tomorrow.

I've disabled crafting of anchor blocks, anchor carts and teleport tethers with modifyworld. I *think* I've disabled crafting of nukes, but in case I've failed at that I've set their explosion radius to zero (and tested this).

I haven't set up any residence/town protection or protected chests yet, the permission config will be a pain...

 

As mentioned, I've set up a separate thread for the Tekkit server, to try and keep this thread cleaner and avoid confusion.

Hello fellow survivalists,

Sorry you did not hear from me in such a long time. I have been busy with all sorts of things like work, playing tekkit and watching tv. So basicly not much of an excuse. I did check up on the server from time to time though

I come bearing some news which i myself do not understand the full extend of yet. Votick our VPS host is not renewing the lease on the dedicated server we are currently hosted on. All i can say is i fully understand because that beast is not cheap at all. This basicly means 'we' will need to find a new home again.

To give this whole process some more time i am planning on paying for the lease to be extended one more month. That way i can download all the data (from my friends house (who has a lot better connection) to keep it safe.

How we go from there i do not know yet. I will look into MC-server hosting to see if there is anything to my liking and in my price range. Or maybe there is some other solution i can come up with.

I will keep you guys posted, i promise!

The server is safe for one more month

I just got confirmation from Votick that the server lease is renewed. For now i have not been looking at other hosting. I will do this in the coming weeks. I am trying to find a cheap but good solution I am hoping i can find someone with fiber to the home who is willing to to share a little bandwidth.

Other (server) news:

I am currently in the process of trying to update the server to 1.31 I hope i can find updates for all plugins. I will report back later

Edit:

I have updated the server to 1.3.1 and updated the major plugins. Everything seems ok, although i did not do a very thorough test. DynMap (the map renderer) however is not working at the moment. It throws errors around so i had to disable it for now. I will get that back up and running asap.
