Got a Job Centre appointment the same day and time as my Daughter's Sports Day. The Missus is Recording it, but that isn't the point.

What annoys me most is that the sadistic woman who deals with me did it on purpose; seriously. I told her "I've got something quite important to me that i'm doing on the thursday" and she turns round and says "that's the only appointment we have" despite the fact she asked me if there was any particular appointment I would like. Bull. Absolute Bull. People like that need a good smacking.

That has been entered, not like I will win it but I can always hope, ever since I saw one of my friends dad wearing one I have wanted one of my own, they are rather large though...

Once you've got a job, it's so much easier to hop into another one. So right now it might only be an extra £30 a week, but it's better than nothing and you can move forwards.

Indeed, they are now considered a bit of an obnoxious brand for varioes reasons. :p

I guess to see you over in the mean time, you could have a look at a PAM homage such as Magrette. There's a picture of my brass one there. Come and find the watch thread if you'd like to discuss further. :)

Got a phone call at 6.00pm; I was supposed to be at work apparently :eyebrow:

Turns out Chef changed the rota ( on my day off ) and didn't bother to let me know; I was supposed to be off monday & tuedsay, working lates rest of the week, but he changed it so that I was working lates tuesday-saturday with sunday off.

It's this kinda bull-poop that made me leave my first job.... :sigh: :miffed:

I'm intoxicated but I have a helpless / self pitty feeling. 22, don't drive, need to find a job, friends seem to pick on me. Not in a good place right now, emotions are just pouring out. I broke down while in the shower (granted I was / am still intoxicated) and cried, something I haven't done in probably a year.

Reminds me of the wreck I was in a few months ago. Sorry, man, hope it gets better. :)

Frankly good for you on not driving. 90% of the time it just plain ain't even worth it. Well, depending upon where you live.

This used to happen all the time when I worked at Morrisons, I'd classically work Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Then some arsehat would change the rota, I'd get a shitty phone all later that week asking where I was. I'd come in and the rota would be riddled with red pen. Nearly got fired for missing shifts. The stupid thing is they had to give 2 weeks notice for shift changes! Oh and yeah it was my responsibility to check the rota every day for changes...

You do realise you can go back to the job centre and ask for the appointment to be adjusted.

I worked as part of a security team at T in The Park last weekend, and it has ruined my faith in humanity. Some of the things that happened, and the things that people did are literally beyond belief. The amount of abuse and violence we were faced with was totally unexpected as well. Not nice at all.

Can I ask why you would put yourself through an XP install?

    sigh...

and the mouse / keyboard don't work in safe mode for some reason or another

For me, work seems to be OK. I am a self employed IT consultant, and work mainly from home.

I gave up my 9-5.30 5+ days a week job working as a senior IT technician due to health back in April 2010 and started up as self employed in June 2010. I don't earn a fortune, but coupled with my wife's salary we have enough to lead a comfortable life.

The thing ruining my life is my health.

In 2008/9 I started to develop bad pain in my neck/shoulders and started to get numb arms. I had MRI scans and it turned out that I had 2 discs that were degenerating and impinging on the nerves. After a long wait on the NHS waiting list, I finally had disc replacement surgery which fixed the numbness issue. Unfortunately the pain is still there and I am taking very strong morphine based pain killers. This is the main reason I work from home, as I can only really drive in the late morning to afternoon. As a developer too, I can do most work in the evening if my pain levels require me to.

I have also recently been diagnosed with an under active gallbladder and am seeing a surgeon next month to discuss having it removed.

My life at the moment (and for the last three years) has been very upsetting. I hardly go out or socialise as I feel too tired or unwell. I usually only see people for an hour or so, as I can start to feel exhausted due to both the pain and the medication.

I have been having a course of acupuncture which hasn't really helped, but sticking with it - this is on the NHS luckily. I also pay to have phsyio, deep tissue massage and reflexology - which seems to keep things under control as I haven't had a debilitating muscle spasm in quite a while now.

Unfortunately there isn't a light at the end of the tunnel at the moment, so it doesn't feel I am working towards anything. My only carrot that I dangle in front of myself is that at least it isn't cancer...

However, in January this year my mother in law was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. This has made my wife's (and indirectly my) life much much harder. She doesn't have the life that we used to have where we were out and about all the time, she has to deal with my condition and now the news that her mum is dyeing of cancer has really turned her life upside down.

Health really can't be bought, and if you have it do your utmost to keep it.

    Take care all.

I wish I could. It's not a normal jobcentre appointment but a 'work program' appointment. They don't let you adjust those.

Work called. They need me for a short job to babysit stuff and then come back. Right when my girlfriend is visiting the uk. In a trip that we have waited 7 months for, delayed twice and has cost me over a thousand.

Not pleased, to say the least.......

If they're anything like the ones I had to deal with they're all utter numpties...

They're also one of the contributing causes to me losing the job I had... because they kept insisting on phoning me whilst I was *at work* to find out 'how it was going'... and they wonder why I shouted at them and told them to **** off and die in a fire...
