    S. T. Joshi's H. P. Lovecraft - A Life. Personal copy from S. T. himself, hardcover out of a run of just 250, personal inscription and, best of all, direct contact with the man himself.

Now that's one expensive book, but, to me at least, that is $800 US well spent.

Got myself a bike for commuting to work from either train or park & ride.

    Dahon Curve D3

Got it second hand off ebay, looking forward to not having to walk like my life depended on it to get my 17:20 train at the end of the day.

So potentially dumb question. Does fitting something like that count as a modification and hence you have to tell your insurance company?

Yes it does indeed, ive already notified them along with the other mods on the car this doesnt actually do much at all compared to the other bits ive done. Amusingly larger brakes actually increases the premium as well.

That's because they assume that the larger brakes means you are going to drive more ... uhm ... irresponsibly I suppose (or I guess it could be because the larger brakes are more expensive in themselves).
