Cases BitFenix Support and sketchy paypal accounts...

    Dear all,

    I need a new stand for my prodigy case and so got in touch with BitFenix this week. They said they could supply one, but then directed me to pay into a paypal account, send a screenshot of the payment to them with my address/phone etc.

    This seems like a sketchy way for a big company to work with something like this - is this normal dealings for BitFenix does anybody know?

    I don't know if it's the norm for them, but I wouldn't do it on the off. Get an invoice, try them on their social media channels if it's genuine, call their accounts department even. It might be that the money needs to go to another country and using their PayPal account is their way of helping customers get round bank charges.

    Could also contact overclockers/scan see if they can get it for you?

    Surely they should invoice you? that's what I do when I need a part that a shop has but isn't on the website.

    What The_Crapman said, it might just be a way around bank fees / delays if they don't have any UK operations.
    But yeah, definitely double check with them through a different contact method first.

    Cooler Master did the same thing when I asked for a replacement key cap set for my board. They only wanted the shipping covered, and it arrived perfectly fine. :)

    Yep, I did the same when getting some spares from cooler master and EK Water blocks .

    Bitfenix are as tight as a gnat's chuff. Past experience, not good.

    From my experience of buying from the likes of Fanatec in Germany, PayPal actually charge more, than going through your bank, as you will get that days exchange rate, with a transaction fee of 2.99% + 50p card charge. Which worked out £10 cheap than using PayPal for an item that was €580.
